Postgraduate Provisional Admission List For 2014/15 – Check Your Status:
Please Note that the 2014/2015 registration exercise for new students commences as from Monday 6th April to 27th April, 2015

Students are advised to collect their admission letters form the School of Postgraduate Studies Auditorium from Monday 6th April, 2015. Thereafter proceeds to their faculties for screening and registration. Candidates are however requested to come along with all their original credentials Use only the last digits of your application number to search

Postgraduate Programmes :
** Responsible for the coordination of postgraduate programmes of the University including planning, coordination, administration and admission to programmes of study:
** To recommend on the provision of appropriate facilities for postgraduate work and to regulate the disbursement of funds allocated for postgraduate work:
** The regulation and enhancement of the quality of postgraduate instruction and research in the University. This shall include educational and contact within Nigeria and where necessary outside:

** Promotion of publication of results of postgraduate studies:
** To monitor and evaluate the progress of work and to report to Senate at least once a year:
** To publicize the postgraduate activities of the University with a view to attracting enrolment and financial support from governmental, industrial and other bodies for the extension of these activities.

Additional Entry Requirements for Foreign Candidates :
** All foreign candidates must satisfy the following requirements, aside the normal entry requirements for every programme, before they can proceed with their studies in the University if offered admission:

Possession of the following documents :
1.Admission Letter
2.International Passport or ECOWAS Travel Certificate
3.Valid VISA – STR (Subject to Regularization)
4.Residence Permit
** Failure to secure such documents will lead to suspension of all academic activities

Entrance Examinations for Some Postgraduate Programmes :
All candidates applying for :
1.Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
2.Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD)
3.Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)
4.MPA/PGDPA, M.Ed/Ph.D. (Admin and Planning)

** are to note that they SHALL BE REQUIRED to write Entrance Examinations for their respective programmes. The dates, venues and times of the examinations shall be communicated in due course.

About Ahmadu Bello University:
The establishment of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) began in 1961 following the recommendation of the Ashby Commission on “Post-School Certificate and Higher Education in Nigeria”. A Law establishing a Provisional Council for the University was passed by the Legislature of Northern Nigeria in April while the Council itself was constituted in November, 1961, under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Shettima Kashim, CBE, who later became Sir Kashim Ibrahim KCMG, CBE. Sir Norman Stanley Alexander, a New Zealander and a Professor of Physics at the University College, Ibadan, was appointed the First Principal, later Vice-Chancellor, of the University in July and he assumed office in November, 1961.
