Send us a letter asking us for a Tvp supplement. We will send you an application form straight away.

You can send your letter to:
Sociale Verzekeringsbank

Postbus 9575

Your letter should include the date, your full name, your date of birth, your address and your telephone number. You must also sign the letter.

What is the procedure?:
As soon as we receive your application form, we will ask the post-war generation contact centre (ANG) of the Cogis Foundation to make a recommendation. The ANG will examine the relationship between your complaints and the wartime experiences of your parent/s or other carers. To do so, the ANG will ask your psychotherapist for information. If necessary, you will be invited for an interview.

We will send you our decision on your application within 3 months after we receive the recommendation from the ANG.

What is the Tvp scheme?:
If you have psychological complaints stemming from experiences that your parents or other carers had during the Second World War, you can apply for a temporary reimbursement under the Tvp scheme (temporary psychotherapy reimbursement scheme for the post-war generation).

If your healthcare insurer does not reimburse you fully for the costs of psychotherapy, you can get reimbursement under the Tvp scheme for the amount you have to pay yourself.

Do you qualify for reimbursement under the Tvp scheme?:
You can get reimbursement under the Tvp scheme if you meet all the following conditions:
** you live in the Netherlands
** you were born in or after 1928
** you have psychological complaints stemming from war-related events that one or both of your parents or guardians experienced during the Second World War
** you need treatment for these psychological complaints
** you are receiving treatment from a psychiatrist, psychotherapist or health psychologist specialized in clinical psychology
** the treatment is not fully reimbursed by your health insurer
** your health insurer is charged for the costs of treatment based on a DTC (diagnosis treatment combination)

You do not receive reimbursement for the costs of treament under the following schemes:
** the Benefit Act for Victims of Persecution 1940-1945 (Wuv), or
** the Benefit Act for Civilian War Victims 1940-1945 (Wubo), or
** the Extraordinary Pensions Acts 1940-1945 (Wbp, Wpbzo and Wiv).

What is a DTC?:
DTC stands for Diagnosis Treatment Combination. A DTC includes a code for your diagnosis and long-term treatment up to a maximum of one year. Your health insurer will be provided with the DTC code, but the precise details of your treatment will remain confidential.

Since 2008, health insurers have provided reimbursement based on DTCs rather than individual sessions.

What will be reimbursed?:
If you incur more expenses for psychotherapy than your health insurer will reimburse, you can have the extra expenses reimbursed under the Tvp scheme up to the maximum statutory DTC rate as established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).

Important information:
** if you a receive a personal budget (PGB) for mental health care from your health insurer, this will be regarded as reimbursement from your health insurer
** you cannot get an advance payment under the Tvp scheme
** travelling expenses to and from the person or organization treating you will not be reimbursed
** to apply for reimbursement, you must submit a claims form and original bills

NB: you cannot get reimbursement under the Tvp scheme if your psychotherapist has a care contract with your health insurer.
