** In the event that your drivers licence is lost or stolen, it is necessary that you visit the Royal Cayman Islands Police and inform them of the situation as soon as possible.
** In so doing, a police report will be officially logged. Once this is done, you can request a copy of the report; along with paying the required fee of CI$25.00.
** With your receipt in hand, visit a Licensing office nearest you to have your drivers’ licence replaced.
** The replacement cost of your Drivers Licence card will be CI$40.00. This fee will be collected by one of our Licensing Officers, who will also have you complete a simple form which may vary, depending on whether your lost /stolen drivers’ licence is expired.
** Should your drivers’ licence be current, you will complete a declaration stating that the information provided is true and correct. Remember, a false declaration is punishable by a fine of CI$2,000.00 and imprisonment for 12 months.
** Alternatively, if your lost or stolen drivers’ licence has expired, you will be asked to complete an application form (green form 14).
** Replacing a damaged card? If so, simply return the plastic to a Licensing Officer and pay the above mentioned fee. Once this is done, you will be issued a duplicate.
Did you recently move addresses or change your P.O. Box? If so, now would be a good time to let us know!
Renewing Your Drivers Licence:
As a qualified driver whose licence has expired, the process for renewal is a simple one.
Visit any of our locations and complete the necessary application form and pay the prescribed fee. (The amount will be determined by the group of licence you hold and the period for which it is renewed) Once this is done, your new card will be printed and you will be on your way!
Do you now have a disability? If so, this does not necessarily mean that you will not be able to renew your licence. Under the prescribed law, anyone whose disability is appropriately controlled can continue to hold a Cayman Islands driver licence.
Remember, it is an offence for a person to drive a motor vehicle on a road if he/she is not licenced or authorized by the appropriate authority.
