Princely How to obtain a Monegasque passport
A passport is an individual travel document which proves a person’s identity. All monegasque passports are electronic (with an embedded chip). You must be of monegasque nationality.

1. Obtaining and completing the form:
To get the form you can either:

** Collect a copy from the General Secretariat of the Ministry of State Passport Department (main entrance of the Ministry of State)
2. Collating the documents:
** The form ‘Application for a Monegasque passport for an adult’, duly completed and signed (the signature will be digitised on the chip)
** An identification photograph of less than one year which complies with international standards (ISO/IEC 19794-s: 2005): it must be a high-quality colour photograph, taken against a light background, and show your face and head (uncovered). You should not smile. The photo should be 35 x 45 mm in size; clear glasses may be worn if required
** Previous passport except in the case of a first request, or in cases of loss or theft which have been reported to the Police Department or other law enforcement authority for nationals living overseas
** Stamp duty payment of 60 euros. To be paid in cash or by cheque made out to the Public Treasury
3. Submitting the application:
Your application may be submitted in person or posted to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of State Passport Department (main entrance of the Ministry of State).
4. Collecting your passport:
You can collect your passport from the Passport Department five working days after the date on which the documents were sent, or according to the time indicated when the application was submitted.
Your previous passport will be returned to you on request after canceling. If it includes current visa, those pages will not be altered.
Name on passport:
The passport will be issued in your surname at birth.
If you are married, you may request that your married name also appears on your passport, after your own name (for example Marina Dupont marr. Durand).
If you are divorced and you would like the name of your ex-spouse to appear on your passport, you must show evidence of the ruling authorising you to use that name or an authorisation signed by him.
If you are widowed, you may request that the name of your late spouse appears after your own.
Validity;
Your passport is valid for 5 years.
For children aged less than three years old at the time of issue, passports are valid for 3 years.
Visas:
To find out which countries require a visa for entry, contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Please note, for some countries which do not require a visa, you must have a passport which is valid for at least six months after you leave the country.
A visa is not required for entry to the United States or the 13 countries which are part of the Schengen agreement: Austria, Belgium, Czech republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden ,Switzerland, Liechtenstein.
Children travelling alone:
Some foreign airlines require that children departing from Nice have a déclaration sur l’honneur (signed statement) in addition to their passport. What to do in case of loss or theft:
You must declare any loss or theft to the Police Department or to another law enforcement authority if you are a Monaco national living overseas. Without this declaration, you will not be able to obtain a new passport. You should then follow the steps for applying for a Monegasque passport.
