Check Status of Application for Initial Licensure :

** Licensure- Check Status of Application for Initial Licensure (Endorsement, Examination, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) OR Reinstatement of Licensure.

** The review, of an application for licensure, can only be performed after specific items are received or required processes have been completed.

** This online verification allows Endorsement applicants, Nursing Students, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse applicants and Reinstatement applicants (4 or more years away from nursing practice) to check the status of these “Required Items”.

** To view required items for your application, enter your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Application Type and click the “Submit” button.

Processing Time :
** If it is not on the list of items received please allow us up to 10 business days from the date that the item was received by the Board of Nursing for it to appear.

BON Responsibilities and Services :
Licensing :
** The BON issues licenses to graduates of approved nursing education programs seeking licensure by exam and to nurses licensed in other states seeking Texas licensure by endorsement.

** All nurses are required to renew their licenses on a biennial basis with evidence of required continuing nursing education. The BON licenses qualified registered nurses to enter practice as advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), including nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse midwives.

School Approval :
** The Texas Board of Nursing (BON) approves schools of nursing which prepare nurses for initial entry into nursing practice.

Enforcement :
** The BON enforces the Nursing Practice Act and Rules and Regulations by setting minimum standards for nursing practice and nursing education, conducting investigations of complaints against nurses, and adjudicating complaints.
