How to Apply :
** Complete your application and submit the application fee.
** A $45 non-deferrable, non-refundable fee is required with your application.

** Students applying with a fee waiver will have the option to choose the type of fee waiver to be used during the payment section of the application.

Apply, if interested, to the Honors College :
** If you’re interested in the Honors College, you will need to complete the Honors section of the regular application for admission, no later than Dec. 1.
**
Know the deadlines :
** To be considered for merit-based scholarships offered through University Admissions, you must apply and submit your transcripts and standardized test scores by Dec. 1.
** The final application deadline is Jan. 17 for fall admission and Oct. 15 for spring. (Applications may remain open on a space-available basis.)

Send official high school transcripts :
** Please have your school counselor submit to University Admissions your official high school transcript to admissions_documents AT towson.edu.
** If you attended or are currently attending a non-U.S. high school, you must have your transcript evaluated by one of the following international credential evaluation companies – WES, AACRAO or ASCISS.

Submit standardized test scores :
** Towson accepts either the SAT and/or ACT. SAT and ACT scores must be sent from the testing agency to be considered official.
** We will not accept test scores reported on high school transcripts.

Write your college essay :
** Towson requires one essay with a 500 word maximum.
** Please refer to the application for topic information.

Create a resume :
** Applicants have the option to upload a resume or activities list before submitting the application.
** Although this is optional, any document submitted will be considered during the application process.

Provide optional letters of recommendation :
** Up to two letters of recommendation may be sent via email to admissions_documents AT towson.edu.

Find out if your intended major has additional requirements :
** Please refer to our complete list of screened majors to determine if there are additional requirements for the major you wish to study.

Determine if you need to take the TOEFL exam :
** If you have been living in the United States less than five years and your native language is not English, you are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS.
** However, an SAT I score of at least 470 on the Critical Reading section OR a 20 on the ACT exempts you from submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Steps to apply :
Admission Policies :
Full Admission :
** Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with a minimum GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) in either the cumulative units of the degree or the last 60 units of the degree, or
** Earned a master’s degree or doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university.

Conditional Admission :
** Admission with conditions may be granted to applicants whose academic achievement does not meet the standard required for regular admission or whose department requirements are incomplete.
** All students admitted with conditions must maintain a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 within their first 9 graduate units.

** See individual program descriptions for specific requirements. Students admitted to a program with conditions must satisfy requirements and correct any deficiencies as determined by the program director.
** Requirements that must be completed to continue in the program, and the timetable for completing the requirements, are listed on a letter prepared by the program director and sent to the student.

Submit your application and other materials :
** We recommend that you submit your application at least two months prior to the semester in which you seek to begin graduate study.
** Application deadlines vary by department.
** Please check individual program pages for information about specific deadlines and additional application requirements or supplemental materials.

Pay your application fee :
** A $45 non-deferrable, non-refundable fee is required with your application.
** An application fee waiver may be available.
** Students who attended a Graduate Open House are eligible for a fee waiver.

Send your transcript :
** You must submit one official transcript from each college or university attended.
** Non-degree applicants must submit one official transcript of their highest degree.
** Official transcripts must be sealed and stamped by the issuing institution.
** Pre-degree students must make sure their transcript includes all grades from the first semester of their senior year.

** For students who earned their degree from an institution outside the United States, please refer to international students or admission policies for additional information.
** Encrypted electronic transcripts may be sent directly via email to gradtranscript AT towson.edu.

Submit email addresses for letters of recommendation :
** Some programs require letters of recommendation as part of the application process.

** If the program for which you are applying requires letters of recommendation, you must enter the email address of the references whom you have asked to submit letters of recommendation on your behalf in order for your online
