Renew non-driver ID card :

** You can renew online, by mail or at a DMV office.
** When you renew your document online, you can download and print a temporary non-driver ID card in PDF format to use until you receive your new document in the mail.

** You will receive your new document in the mail within 10 days.

Your non-driver ID card :
** expires on your birthday (we mail you a renewal notice about 50 days before it expires)
** can be renewed up to 1 year before it expires, and up to 2 years after it expires (if your ID is expired for two years or more, you can’t renew – there are no exceptions.)

** will have the words “UNDER 21” if you renew 41 days or more before your 21st birthday
** can be renewed for a reduced fee or ‘No Fee’ if you are age 62 or older or receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

You must renew at a DMV office if :
** you want to convert to an enhanced non-driver ID (Endid)
** your document displays the words “Valid Without Photo”
** you want to update your photo
** you have a non-driver ID card that has ‘Temporary Visitor’ on it and the temporary visitor date expired, and you have proof of an extension from the INS

Can I renew online?
** Yes. The fastest way to renew your non-driver ID card is right now, online.
** To renew online, be sure your current address matches the address on our records.
** To change or verify your address, you must signup for a MyDMV account first.**

Can I renew by mail?
** Yes. We will send you a renewal notice in the mail approximately 50 days before your non-driver ID card expires.
** Complete the notice and return it in the envelope provided.
** Be sure to include payment in the form of a check or money order payable to “Commissioner of Motor Vehicles”.
** If you did not receive a renewal application, you may complete an Application for Permit, Driver License or Non-driver ID card (MV-44)

How can I renew if I am a Temporary Visitor?
** As long as the Temporary Visitor status that DMV has on file is not expired you can renew your non-driver ID card online, through the mail or in an office.
** If your Temporary Visitor status has been extended, you must go to a DMV office with your updated paperwork from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).

** We will update our records to show that your Temporary Visitor status has been extended so you can renew your non-driver ID card.
** Your new non-driver ID card will have your new temporary visitor expiration date.

What will it cost to renew?
** The chart below shows the fees for an original or renewal of a non-driver ID card.

Under age 62 and receive SSI 10 years $ 6.50

How long will it take to get my new non-driver ID card?
** Allow 2 weeks to receive it in the mail.
** You can check the mailing status of your photo document online.
** If your document is not delivered two weeks after the date the document was processed, you can contact us.

Am I eligible for a reduced fee or ‘No Fee’ non-driver ID card?
** If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and
** are under age 62, your fee is $6.50
** are age 62 or older, you can get a ‘No Fee’ renewal
** To get a reduced fee or ‘No Fee’ renewal, you must renew by mail or at a DMV office and provide proof of your eligibility.
** If you come to an office, you must bring an original copy of proof.
** If you apply by mail, send us a photocopy of your proof of SSI.
** You can’t get a reduced or no fee renewal if you renew online. 4

We accept these documents as proof of SSI :
** Notice of Award notifying you that you are eligible for SSI benefits
** Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) letter
** Notice of change in payment (SSA-L8151)
** Third Party Query (TPQY) letter
** Report of Confidential Social Security Information (SSA-2258)
** Benefit Verification letter (you must call the Social Security Administration in advance to obtain this letter: 1-800-772-1213)
** If are age 62 or older and don’t receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your fee is $6.50**
