Pay your Council Tax :
** You can pay in many ways, including by Direct Debit, online, by phone, by post, in person or by bank transfer.

Direct Debit :
** Setting up a Direct Debit is quick and easy.
You’ll need :
** council tax account number
** bank name, branch and sort code
** bank account number and the name(s) on the account
Online Direct Debits :
** Direct Debits can now be set up over the Internet.
** All the normal Direct Debit safeguards and guarantees apply.
** No changes in the amount, date or frequency to be debited can be made without notifying you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited.
** In the event of any error, you’re entitled to an immediate refund from your bank or building society.
** You have the right to cancel a Direct Debit instruction at any time simply by writing to your bank or building society.
Data protection and fraud prevention :
** The information given on this form may be held on our database to enable Bristol City Council meet its statutory duties.
** We may use the information provided to prevent and detect fraud.
** We may also share this information with other council or agencies that handle public funds.
Instalments date :
** Your payment will be deducted on your chosen date, the 1st, 15th or 25th of each month.
Is your account in arrears?
** If your account is subject to a Summons you will need to contact us for a Direct Debit on the summonsed amount.
** However, if you complete this form, your future council tax payments will be taken by Direct Debit.**

** Paying online is easy and secure.
** We accept all major credit and debit cards.
** You’ll need your council tax account number.
** This can be found on the top left of your council tax bill.
How to pay online :
1. Start by selecting the ‘Pay online’ button
** You will be taken to our online payments site, run for us by Capita.
2. Choose your service
3. Enter your reference number

** Enter your reference number, any other information requested, and the amount you want to pay.
** If your reference is not recognised you will not be allowed to carry on with your payment.
** If you think you may have entered the reference incorrectly, please re-enter it.
4. Your credit or debit card details
** If you choose to pay by credit card, an additional charge of 1.8% will be added to your payment except for Penalty Charge Notices.
** No extra charge is made for using a debit card.
** It will take a few seconds whilst the system gets authorisation for your payment.

** Depending upon your bank, please allow up to five working days for your payment to clear.
5. Confirmation of your payment will be displayed
** You can take a screen print as proof of the transaction.
** If you have entered your e-mail address a confirmation will be sent to you.
