Apply for or Renew a Blue Badge :
1. Apply for a Blue Badge :
** If you are a driver or a passenger with a permanent and substantial disability that affects your ability to walk you may be eligible for a disabled parking badge (Blue Badge) to help you park closer to where you want to go.

2. Appeal a refusal :
** After your application and assessment, if we decide you don’t qualify for a Blue Badge, we’ll send you details explaining why.
** If you don’t think we’ve considered all the information, you can appeal and we will review your application.
** You need to contact us within 28 days from the date we made our final decision.
** You must also include any further medical evidence or information to support your appeal this will help to show why you feel our decision is incorrect.
** It is your responsibility to supply further medical evidence in support of your appeal.
** Without new medical evidence your appeal cannot be looked at.

3. Change of details :
** If your mobility problems have become more serious since a previous application, we can check your eligibility again.
** You’ll also need to provide us with evidence to support your application.
You can :
** use the online eligibility checker – DirectGov
Change of address :
** If you move to a new county and your Blue Badge has not expired, you do not need to re-apply immediately but will need to apply to you new county in good time before the current one expires.
** You can use your badge anywhere in Europe.
** Please inform us if you move out of East Sussex as we will need to update our records.

4. Return a badge :
It is important that a Blue Badge is returned to us if :
** a new badge has been issued (we need you to return the expired badge)
** the badge has expired
** the badge holder no longer needs it
** the badge holder dies
** the badge holder stops being eligible for the badge
** a duplicate badge has been issued in place of a lost or stolen badge and the original badge is subsequently recovered so that we can make your badge invalid.

** When a badge is returned to us it is securely destroyed in accordance with the council’s safe disposal policy.
** You may remove your photograph before sending your badge back to us.
05. Report misuse of a Blue Badge :
If you suspect misuse or fraudulent use of a badge :
** Contact the Blue Badge Team on 01323 464244;
** Or e mail; badgefraud AT eastsussex.gov.uk with as much supporting detail as possible, including the serial number of the badge.
** If the helpline is busy or closed please leave a message and we will call you back.
** All allegations of misuse are taken seriously and will be thoroughly investigated. Your details will not be disclosed to anyone.
