Applying For Your Bus Pass :
** You can travel for free on local buses once you reach state pension age.

** If you were born before 6 October 1954, go to GOV.UK check your state pension age to find out if you’re eligible for free local bus travel before you reach state pension age.
Apply for a pass based on age :
** You can apply at your local library if you meet the age criteria, or send us a completed application form, below.
** You need to take with you 1 proof of age and 2 proofs of residence – your photo will be taken free of charge.
Applying for a pass based on disability :
You are eligible for a free bus pass if you :
** are blind or partially sighted
** are profoundly or severely deaf
** are without speech
** have a disability, or have suffered an injury, which has a substantial and long-term effect on your ability to walk
** do not have arms or have long-term loss of the use of both arms
** have a learning disability
** have applied for a licence to drive a motor vehicle under Part III of the Road Traffic Act 1988, and have your driving application refused under section 92 of the Act (physical fitness) on grounds other than misuse of drugs or alcohol
** Complete and send in an application form, below, to apply for a bus pass based on disability.
** It is not possible to apply, or have your application photo taken, through your local library.
Application forms :
** The form below is for use by all applicants.
** Disabled applicants who would not be able to make a journey regularly without help from a travelling companion may also be entitled to a companion pass.
** You can apply for a companion pass at the same time as your bus pass application, or any time afterwards.**
Renewing Your Bus Pass :
Older person’s bus pass :
** Your bus pass will be renewed automatically.
** You don’t need a new photograph, and you will only need to contact us if your address has changed in the last 2 years.
Your new pass will :
** be sent to your home address
** last for 5 years
Disabled person’s bus pass :
** A letter and a renewal application form will be sent to you automatically – you can also download the form below.
** You don’t need to get a new photograph. When you return the renewal form to us, however,
you must provide :
** 1 proof of age
** 2 proofs of address
** proof of disability
** These are needed to check your conditions have not changed.
** Your new pass will be valid for 2 years.
Changing address :
** You must let us know if you have changed address over the last 2 years and your bus pass is about to run out.
** Use the form below to send us your change of details no later than 1 calendar month before the end of your bus pass.
Lost or stolen bus passes :
** If you need a replacement bus pass you must fill in the form below and send it, together with a cheque or postal order – made payable to Thurrock Council – for £10.00 to the address on the form.
** Your replacement pass will be dated the same as the pass that was lost or stolen.
Stolen pass :
** If your bus pass is stolen you must report it to the police and make a note of the incident number you receive.
** You should then fill in the replacement form.
If your card is stolen :
** there will be no fee if an incident number is supplied
** if you do not have an incident number a £10.00 admin charge will be payable and you should send a cheque or postal order – made payable to Thurrock council – for this amount along with the form
