How To Read VIWAPA Meter?

** Your electric bill is figured by using the number of kilowatt hours used during the reading period. Subtract the reading of last month’s bill from this month’s new reading to determine the number of kilowatt hours (kWh) used.

** Reading your meter on a regular basis and keeping a record of activities that affect your usage is the first step on your way to conserving energy and controlling your utility bill.

Your Digital Meter :
** Digital meter Your electric bill is calculated by using the number of kilowatt hours (kWh) consumed during the reading period.

Subtract the reading of last month’s kWh’s used as appeared on the bill from this month’s new reading to determine the number of kilowatt hours used during the service period. The difference between the two is what helps to determine the amount of your bill each month.

** A kilowatt read — also known as a demand read — is billed just as it appears. This occurs because the meter reader resets the demand read every month after the meter has been read.

** Recommendation from WAPA : Locate your meter in an accessible location. Bring a notebook and pen with you so you can write down the reading. Note time and date that you took your reading of the electric meter.

Repeat the reading of your electric meter at a later date. Note the date and time. Subtract the first reading from the second reading and you will arrive at the number of kilowatt hours used during that time frame.

Consult your monthly billing statement for the approximate date that your meter will be read each month.

How To Read Your Bill?

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has unveiled a new and improved billing format this month for your convenience.

You’ll find most of the information from the previous billing statement on the new bill, however, there are some important areas of the new bill format we’ve highlighted for you in this easy reference guide to reading your residential electric bill. Note : This new bill includes an increase effective August 1, 2012.

** Always include your stub when paying at WAPA business offices, the bank, or by mail. A return envelope will be included in future bills.
