3. What if I don’t agree with my meter reading?
When a customer disputes a meter reading, the Authority shall revisit the meter location and determine if the current meter reading is in line with the billed meter reading.
If the billed meter reading was found to be inaccurate, the Authority shall cancel the incorrect bill and issue the customer a corrected bill.
4. What is the process for requesting a meter test?
The Authority shall, upon written request of the customer, test the accuracy of the Authority’s meter in their (or authorized representative’s) presence.
When the customer desires, either personally or through a representative to witness the testing of the meter, they may require the meter to be sealed in their presence at the time of its removal, which seal shall not to be broken until the test is made in their presence.
A report of such test shall be made to the customer and a complete record of such test shall be kept on file.
Rules and Regulations :
** The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority (“Authority”) desires to render safe, dependable, adequate and economical potable water or electric service to its customers.
** These Rules and Regulations (“Regulations”) are intended to serve as a guide to customers of the Authority in which to secure or maintain potable water or electric service.
These Regulations are not intended to serve as construction guides except to :
** locate the delivery point of potable water or electric service to the customer’s premises;
** locate meters where they can be read or serviced conveniently and safely by the Authority, and;
** provide guidelines for appropriate potable water or electric code compliance as illustrated in the corresponding service schematics enclosed at the end of these Regulations.
** *The Authority’s Rules and Regulations are currently under revision. Once approved by the Virgin Islands Public Service Commission they will be published on this site.
** Existing Rules and Regulations are available in booklet form in our Customer Services Offices throughout the territory.
