Apply for Police Permit

As the organiser of any event, you are to conduct your event in a socially responsible manner and ensure that it does not cause any danger or undue alarm to the general public.

Due considerations are to be taken to all aspects of public safety, security, law and order are not compromised in the organisation of and during the event, and that the event activities do not contravene any legislation. If in doubt, you should seek your own legal counsel.

Under the Public Order Act 2009, a permit is required for any assembly or procession of 1 or more persons in any public place or to which members of the public in general are invited, induced or permitted to attend, intended :
(a) to demonstrate support for or opposition to the views or actions of any person;
(b) to publicise a cause or campaign; or
(c) to mark or commemorate any event.

Under Public Order (Additional Temporary Measures) Act, a permit is required for more persons in the special zone :
(a) to consume alcohol in such a public place with such special zone; or
(b) to bring a prohibited item into the special zone;

on weekends (from 6am on Saturday through 6am on Monday), and on the eve of public holidays and on public holidays (from 6 am on the eve to 6 am the day after the public holiday).

The following is a list of commonly held activities that require a permit :
(a) religious assembly;
(b) festival procession (e.g., lantern festival foot procession);

(c) religious procession (e.g., chariot procession, foot procession, foot and vehicular procession or vehicular procession);
(d) public talks.

How Do I Apply For A Police Permit?
You can apply for a permit online via the website using your SingPass. Permit applications with sufficient information shall be submitted at least 14 working days before the date of the event.

If the proposed event requires a partial or full closure of any road, your application form together with the necessary supporting documents, including a map showing the roads affected, must be submitted at least 21 working days before the date of the event.
