Screening applications are commenced by the organisation and completed by the individual applicant.

Organisations Must First Register
Organisations must first be registered for online screening. More information about registering for online screening. Once registered, nominated officers in the organisation can commence screening applications online.
Before Starting An Application
To start an application, you will need the organisation’s log-in details provided by the DCSI Screening Unit when registering.
You will also need the applicant’s full name, date of birth and their email address and the following details :
** the type of screening required;
** the applicant type i.e. ‘volunteer’, ‘contractor’ or ’employee’
** an indication of who will be paying for the screening i.e. the organisation or the applicant;
** details of the role the applicant is to perform
** the applicant will need to provide proof of identity information
Steps
Step 1 : The organisation starts an application online using the online portal.
Step 2 : Once the employer organisation has finished the initial process of starting an application, the applicant will receive an email from the DCSI Screening Unit providing login and password details. The applicant can then log in to the portal and complete their application.

1. Why register for online screening?
Your organisation must register with the DCSI Screening Unit in order to be able to apply online for screening. All screening applications must be submitted online, except where it can be demonstrated that the applicant is unable to do so because of exceptional circumstances.
Since it was introduced in July 2015, the online process of applying for screening has resulted in significant improvements in customer satisfaction, reduced screening timelines, and minimised data entry errors related to the processing of screening assessments.
Once registered for online screening your organisation’s nominated officers will be able to access an online portal and see the progress of each application commenced by your organisation.
The applicant will be notified once you have initiated their application, and will then be able to log in and, in most cases, fully complete their application online. Your organisation will also receive emails from the Screening Unit regarding the progress of each application.

3. Who can verify my identity?
Applicants for screening must provide documentation to satisfy the requirements of a 100 point identification check.
Online verification : When applying for screening online, there is an option to have the applicant’s identity verified online using the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service.
If, however, you are unable to use the online verification service, you can have your identity verified by showing your identity documentation to a person who meets certain criteria. The verifier must sign the form and provide their details in the relevant section of the form.
