Who Can Apply?
The Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card is available to Pensioner Concession Card holders, NSW Seniors, ACT Seniors and NSW War Widow/ers*.
If you have one of these cards below you’re eligible for the Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card :
** NSW seniors card
** ACT Seniors Card (the card number must have 9 digits to be valid, otherwise it will need to be replaced with a new ACT Seniors MyWay Card)
** Pensioner Concession Card Department of Human Services
** NSW War Widow/er Transport Concession Card
** Pensioner Concession Card Department of Veterans’ Affairs
*Eligible entitlement card holders must use their physical card as proof of entitlement. Centrelink’s Digital Wallet will be accepted as proof of entitlement for concession fares from 1 January 2018.

Key Benefits
Lower fares :
Gold Opal fares are half the price of Adult Opal fares. Plus with Opal you can also save 30% on off-peak train fares.
Daily, Weekly and Sunday Travel Caps :
Gold Opal card fares are capped at $2.50 a day*. Plus, if you only take a short bus or train trip and don’t reach the $2.50 cap, then you’ll pay less.
Opal Transfer Discount :
If you switch modes of transport during a journey, you can get an Opal Transfer Discount of $1 for each transfer to a new mode of transport. To benefit from the Opal Transfer Discount, you will need to transfer to your new mode of transport within 60 minutes of tapping off from your previous mode^.
Weekly Travel Reward :
Friends, shopping, appointments…trips on public transport can add up fast. That’s where Opal shines once you complete eight paid journeys in a week you can travel for the rest of the week for half-price*. It’s called the Weekly Travel Reward‡.
Opal trip advantage :
If you make several trips using the same mode of transport, as long as your transfer occurs within 60 minutes of tapping off from your last section of the trip†, it counts as a single journey and a single fare.
How To Apply?
If you’re a pensioner, NSW Senior, ACT Senior or a NSW War Widow/er Card holder order your Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card :

** By calling 13 67 25 (13 OPAL)
Note :
ACT Seniors Card numbers must have 9 digits to be valid. If your card has fewer than 9 digits, you will need to apply for a new ACT Seniors MyWay Card at the Council on the Ageing office, an ACT Government Library, or an Access Canberra Shopfront.
Please allow up to 7 working days for your new Seniors Myway card to be registered in the system before applying for your Gold Opal card.
You can’t get your new Gold Opal card at a retailer although you can apply for one at a Service NSW Centre and we will mail it to your nominated address. You don’t need a credit card to apply and there is no fee for a Gold Opal card.
