What is Qatar Health Card System?

The State of Qatar guarantees health services to all citizens and residents in government medical institutions through a Health Card system. The system provides the cardholder with a medical record file containing all his/her medical data saved in the nearest health care center. You can renew your health card online, or replace a lost or damaged card.

How To Renew Health Card?

Follow these steps to renew or replace your Health Card through Hukoomi
** Load the online application.
** Enter your ID number, then select “Next” to confirm.

** Choose “Renew” if you wish to update the expiry date, or “Reprint” if you wish to replace your lost or damaged Health Card.
** Select the number of years you wish to renew your Health Card for.

** Choose your preferred delivery option. You may collect the card from Health Card Workshop, villa # 20 near to Women Hospital for free, or pay a fee to collect it from a post office, or have the card delivered.

** Select “Send SMS to the Informant” option if you wish to be notified when the card is ready.
** Review application details.
** Pay appropriate fees online.

Additional Information

The cost of Health Card renewal is QR50 for citizens and QR100 for residents. Collecting the card from Health Card Workshop, villa # 20 near to Women Hospital is free.

1. Where is MRC located and what are the working hours?
MRC is located within Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City – portable cabin next to the Staff Clinic. Please refer to the location map provided in the website.

Regular Office hours : Sunday – Thursday: 7am to 3pm
Note : Kindly fix appointments through phone/ mail with concerned staff member prior to visits.

2. What types of training are offered through the MRC?
MRC offers CITI training as this is a mandatory course to be completed for participation in Human Subject Research at HMC.

3. Do I need to do CITI Training for my IRB application?
Yes, according to the MRC policies as well as MoPH guidelines, all investigators involved in Human Subject Research are supposed to complete their CITI training in three courses namely Basic, HIPs and GCP.

CITI module completion certificates (or equivalent certificates) should be submitted by all study team members. Log onto www.citiprogram.edu for registering and completing required courses. For further information refer to the policy.

4. Will funding be provided for my study?
MRC provides internal grants for up to QR100,000 for Research studies. Note that budget is not provided for studies determined as non-research (quality improvement, audits etc.).

If funds of more than QR100, 000 are required, apply through our Internal Research Grant Cycle which is a competitive grant. Details regarding this are available on the Grants and Funding page.

5. Can a non HMC employee submit a research proposal at MRC?
Yes, research proposals can be submitted by PIs from outside institutions however there should be an HMC PI as well on the study team.
