Conditions :
** You are officially registered in the Municipality of The Hague’s Personal Records Database (BRP, formerly the GBA) at the address for which you are applying for the visitor’s parking permit.
** You do not need to own a car to apply for a visitor’s parking pass.
** You live in an area where paid parking is in effect.
** The visitor’s parking permit is not valid on shopping streets during shopping hours.
What will I need :
** a copy of your passport, identity card or driving licence
** if you are not yet registered in the Municipality of The Hague’s BRP : a copy of your rental contract or purchase deed and/or a Waste Tax bill for your future home
How does it work :
** The parking permit is a pass which is issued only once to parking permit holders. You will not receive a new pass when the permit is extended at the end of the year.
** Your visitor places the pass inside the car where it is clearly visible from behind the windscreen.
** The pass displays only a barcode. It does not show the area for which it is valid or the period of validity. Parking wardens scan the barcode to see which area it covers.
** You need to activate and deactivate the pass each time you want to use it.
** You may have 1 visitor’s parking permit per address. However, it is possible to request several passes for this permit. They will all make use of the same total number of visitor’s hours.
** Do you live in an area with paid parking and will you have visitors staying for several days- You can apply for an extra parking permit for your house guests (‘long-term guest parking permit’).
** The number of visitor’s parking hours per year is calculated on the basis of the number of hours that have to be paid for parking per week.
Rates :
The visitor’s parking permit costs € 18.36 per year plus a one-time fee of € 12.90 (rate for 2014). The Vruchtenbuurt, Leyenburg and Bloemenbuurt have a different rate. There you pay € 12 per year.
Permit year :
** The permit year does not run from 1 January to 31 December in all permit areas. Check the information under Periods of validity for parking permits to see the start and end dates of the permit year in your area.
** When you apply for a parking permit, the permit will be valid until the last day of the permit year. The amount to be paid and the number of parking hours you receive for visitors is then prorated on the basis of the remaining number of months. Should you apply for a parking permit in the last 2 months of the permit year, the permit will be valid until the last day of the following permit year.
** The rates usually change on 1 January. Existing permit holders pay the new rate when their permit is extended or if they move to an area which has a different rate.
