Driver’s Licence Renewal :

A Bahamian driver’s licence allows persons to drive legally on the streets of The Bahamas. There is an option of having your Bahamian Drivers Licence renewed for one year or three years.

However, persons obtaining a Bahamian Drivers Licence for the first time can only have their licence for a period of one year, after which time, the licence must be renewed.

Eligibility :
There are no eligibility criteria for this service.

Process :
The following steps are required to renew a Driver’s Licence :
** Complete application form.
** Submit completed application form and present relevant supporting documents to the Road Traffic Department Driver’s Licence Unit.
** The applicant must present an expired Driver’s Licence to the Road Traffic Department Driver’s License Unit (if there are any changes that needs to be made to the driver’s licence, the applicant must provide supporting documents that is passport, marriage certificate, divorce document etc.).
** Upon verification of the relevant information, the Photo Clerk will take the photograph and signature of the applicant (if necessary).
** The Photo Clerk will issue a receipt to the applicant for payment.
** Upon payment to the Cashier, the Driver’s Licence Clerk will issue the Driver’s Licence.

Supporting Documents :
** Passport.
** National Insurance Card.
** Expired Driver’s Licence.
** Non-Bahamians should present their Passport, Permit to Reside, issued by The Bahamas Immigration Department (Work Permit, Residency Permit, Spousal Permit or Permanent Resident Permit), or any other proof of residency and a copy of a Driver’s Licence.

Turn-around time :
Once all the requirements are met, the renewed licence can be issued on the same day of your visit.

Deadline :
A driver’s licence must be renewed at the end of your birth month after one or three years.
