QIIB Get IBAN of your Account

Complying with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) instructions, INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC announces the implementation of the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) in Qatar, and effective from 01/01/2014, the number of characters of your account number will change from 13 digits to 29 characters.

How to Get IBAN ?

Step 1 : Go to the official website and Click IBAN Converter link.

Step 2 : Enter your existing Account Number “The account number consisting of 13 digits with no spaces or dashes” [The IBAN generation is based on the account number entered.]

Step 3 : Click Generate IBAN button.

What does the IBAN look like?:
Your IBAN code consists of 7 components:
QA, XX, QIIB, 00000000, Branch Code, Customer Number, Account Suffix

** QA: Country Code
** XX: Automaticity generated 2 digits code for current and saving accounts only. The 2 digit code for a saving account will differ from the 2 digit code for a current account.
** QIIB: Bank Code, different for each bank in Qatar
** 00000000: Eight zeros and is a mandatory component of the account number
** Branch Code: Consists of four digits
** Customer Number: Consists of six digits
** Account Suffix: Consists of three digits

A Customer having two accounts with the following existing QIIB account numbers:
** Current Account 1234-123456-001
** Saving Account 1234-123456-200

Effective today, customers IBAN would be 29 characters as follows:
** Current Account: QAXX QIIB 0000 0000 1234 1234 5600 1
** Saving Account QAYY QIIB 0000 0000 1234 1234 5620 0

When & where to use the IBAN?

Effective from 01/01/2014 you may start using your IBAN, and you may start communicating it with all entities or individuals that are having financial transactions with you, example
** Domestic payments incoming and outgoing for customer accounts in Qatar, via SWIFT, QATCH and TERMS.

** Cross-Border outgoing payments from customer accounts of banks in Qatar to customer accounts of banks in countries that have adopted IBAN

** All incoming cross-border payments to customer accounts of Banks in Qatar regardless of whether the sending banks country has adopted IBAN or not
** Please ensure you provide your full 29 character IBAN to companies or individuals that are sending you remittances.

When sending remittances:
To ensure your outward remittances to customer accounts in Qatar or in countries that have adopted IBAN are processed quickly and efficiently, please state the full IBAN reference of the beneficiary on your remittance request. The number of IBAN characters will differ based on the country to which you are remitting.
