MFA Declaration of Death

The declaration of death is a mandatory procedure that must be carried out within a time limit of 30 days maximum at the consular district having jurisdiction over the place of residence of the applicant.

Applicant:
Moroccan nationals abroad

Required documents:
** Registration cards for residents;
** Passport of the deceased;
** National identity card of the deceased;
** Family civil status register:
** Certificate of death

Place of submission:
Consular district having jurisdiction over the place of residence of the applicant

Place of issue:
Consular district having jurisdiction over the place of residence of the applicant

Ways of claims:
Al-Wassit institution (mediator)

2. Permission of body transfer of Moroccans deceased abroad :
In view of transferring the body of a Moroccan national deceased abroad, applicants should file an application at the consular department in charge of death cases within their place of residence.

Applicant – Moroccan nationals abroad
Required documents :
** Extract of death certificate issued by the host country authorities;
** One of identity documents of the deceased : passport, national identity card,
** consular registration card;

** Medical certificate stating that the deceased is free from all infectious deceases;
** Minutes of placement in coffin;
** Document stating the payment of body transfer fees by the family of the deceased or by funeral services.

Fees : None
Place of submission : Consular death services of place of residence of applicant
Place of issue : Consular death services of place of residence of applicant
Processing time : 48 hours minimum

3. Obtaining a copy of death certificate :
The death certificate is drawn up by the commune in which the deceased resided or by the commune in which they incurred death. The full copy of the death certificate is a complete reproduction of the statements in the death certificate.

A summed up copy might be requested. To obtain any of these documents, please refer to the procedure below.
