Old Age and Disability Grants:

Description:
The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare is Mandated under the National Pension Act (Act 10 of 1992) to payout pension grants.

The Ministry is mandated to remit an Old Age Grant to those that attained the age of sixty years; a Disability Grant to those that reached the age of sixteen years and have been certified as disabled by a State Medical Officer.

Requirements:
The Target Group (Who Qualifies for Disability Grant)

Namibian citizens who attained the age of 16 up to 59 years and those who are permanent residents, declared disabled by a State Medical Officer.

Documents Required:
** An ID Document
** Birth Certificate
** If Married a Marriage Certificate (woman only)

Non-Namibians :
** Permanent Residence Certificate
** Citizenship Certificate

The Target Group (Who Qualifies for Old Age Grant):
Namibian citizens or permanent residents who attained the age of 60 years

Documents Required:
** An ID Document
** Birth Certificate

Non-Namibians :
** Permanent Residence Certificate
** Citizenship Certificate

Procedure:
Go to the nearest Pension Office. (Section 4(1) of the National Pension Act)

The following will happen at the office:
An Official will attest your application in your presence.
You will be issued a receipt of acknowledgement. (Section 11(a) of the National Pension Act)

The following will happen after approval:
You will receive an approval letter or a notice through NBC radio.

Requirements :
** Application Form
** Original and certified copy of Birth Certificate (full or abridged) or Citizenship Certificate
** Original and certified copy of Identity Document or proof of application of ID
** Passport photo x 2

** Married Women: Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (Married women who have not updated their ID to husband’s surname and want his surname on their passport)

** Divorced Women: Certified copy of Divorce Certificate (Divorced women wishing to revert back to their maiden surname)
** Minors (under 16): Original parent’s identification. Any child over 13 must be present for signature
