What are the steps to be taken on a pensioner’s identity card, whenever it is lost or misplaced ?
Since the pensioner’s identity card is valid for civil activities such as casting of vote, it is compulsory to make a complain at the Police Station, whenever it is lost or misplaced. In order to obtain a new identity card, the copy of the complain should be submitted to the Department of Pension along with a letter of request and a passport size color photograph.

Who are paid subsistence allowance ?
** Widow and orphans in case where the member of Armed Forces, who demised whilst in active service, is married.
** Parents depending fully on the member, in case where the demised member of Armed Forces, is unmarried.
** On the approval of the Minister of Defense, brothers and sisters below 18 years of age of the demised member of Armed Forces, who were fully depending on the member.

Whether the pension of a pensioner, who is imprisoned, is suspended? If so, any arrears of pension is paid to such person?
** Whenever a pensioner is convicted to a severe offence for which capital punishment is imposed or, to rigorous imprisonment for any period or if such person is convicted to an offence for which an imprisonment of more than 12 months is imposed, the pension is suspended.
** However the secretary to the ministry could decide on the pension after the date of the release from prison but no arrears of pension is paid for such person.
** In case of a suspended sentence given by the court, the pension is not suspended during or after the period of punishment, if relevant person is not convicted for other offence.
** The Pension of pensioner who was imprisoned for any other reason apart from above is suspended.
** A request should be made to Director General of Pensions to reactivate the pension.The Director Genaral of Pensions and the secretary to the ministry will decide on further payment’s and dues subjected to government expences.
