FAQ On Air Canada Cargo
Frequently Asked Questions FAQ On Air Canada Cargo
When will my shipment arrive?
You can track your shipment online using our tracking tool.
Where can I find cargo information for Air Canada aircraft, such as cargo size, capacity, and compatible units?
You can find all the cargo and aircraft information on our fleet and ULDs pages.
Can I ship/transport my live animals?
When shipping live animals, your cages must be the correct size. The size will determine the price by volume. Please keep in mind that other taxes and security fees are not included in price quotes.
What is the difference between shipping my dog/cat as a passenger or as cargo?
There are three ways to ship a dog/cat: as passenger, either (1) in the cabin or (2) as checked baggage; (3) as cargo. The charge is reduced for pet travel if your dog/cat travels with a paying passenger (note that it must adhere to the maximum carrier size and allowable weight). When choosing the cargo option, pricing is based on weight and dimensions. You cannot travel with your pet as cargo.
Can I ship internationally with AC Expedair?
You can only ship within Canada with AC Expedair, your solution for small parcels.
How long does shipping take with AC Expedair?
The standard transit time for AC Expedair at most stations in Canada is one hour, except at our four major hubs (YUL, YYZ, YYC, and YVR) where it is two hours.
What is an air waybill?
An air waybill is a contract between Air Canada Cargo and you that details the terms for transporting your shipment. The Air Waybill must be completed in accordance with the applicable IATA rules and procedures.
What is eFreight?
eFreight is a tool that allows for most cargo processes to be performed digitally, taking the paper out of the air cargo industry. Facilitated by IATA, the project is an industry-wide initiative involving carriers, freight forwarders, ground handlers, shippers and customs authorities. Air Canada Cargo is an active member in eFreight, participating in the IATA central action group. Our responsibility is to encourage industry engagement since participation is critical to the success of this initiative
If paper documents do not accompany the shipment, how does the information flow to customs and governmental authorities?
The e-document standard for eFreight is dependent on document type. Documentation can be sent using either electronic data exchange (EDI), using Cargo IMP or XML messaging or by scanning documents and emailing to destination. eFreight uses the existing air cargo industry messaging infrastructure. Participants will need to acquire the technological capabilities to connect to their partners or use 3rd party providers (such as web portals).
