The Antigua and Barbuda Board of Education manages finances generated by the Education Levy, provides bursaries and information about scholarships for Antigua and Barbuda nationals.

Steps:
** Please accurately fill out ALL sections of the scholarship application form. NB: SECTION 15 is for short courses ONLY.
** Ensure that the application forms are filled out in DUPLICATE with all the requested documents neatly attached to both forms.
** SECTION D MUST be filled out with the necessary financial information requested. I.E: Other than the BOE’s scholarship, what other source of funding do you have to contribute to your studies?
** The names, addresses and telephone numbers, along with the middle initials of TWO sureties must be provided in NUMBER 19.
** If transcript/progress report or ACCEPTANCE LETTER has not yet been received from the university at the time of submission of applications, please indicate the document as “PENDING” on the front of form.
** It is vital that the annual deadline of April, 30th is met. Late submissions will not be reviewed, but will be held for the next scholarship season.

Criteria For Education Scholarship Application
Criteria for new scholarships will include National Needs Priority Areas, as determined by the Ministries of Education and Planning; Performance, i.e. a minimum of six (6) CXC passes (grades 1, 2, 3), including Mathematics and English; and Merit (including special circumstances). For continuing scholarship recipients, a “B” average or GPA of 3.0 is required. Transfers from the Antigua State College to the various UWI campuses will no longer be automatic, but guided by National Needs and Performance, i.e. a “B” average in course work.
Required Documents For Education Scholarship
** A recent passport-size photograph
** A certified copy of valid passport
** A certified copy of your birth certificate
** A certified copy of academic certificate/diploma/ degree
** A letter of acceptance from the Institution to which you have applied (If already in the Institution, progress report or transcript should be supplied)
** Statement from parent regarding bonding and funding
** Rationale for undertaking course of study
Rules For For Education Scholarship
Acceptance of Award:
1. The Board of Education will undertake the following steps to ensure that applicants are notified of the National Scholarship Committee’s decision regarding their applications.
** The list of awardees will be published in all public media;
** A letter will be issued to the applicant shortly after the final decision has been made by the National Scholarship Committee; and
2. Recipients must contact the Board of Education within three (3) months of the date of the award, indicating their acceptance or non-acceptance of the award.
3. Failure to respond to the notification within the three-month (3) period will result in automatic lapse of the award.
Bonding:
** Be advised that the rules stated in this document, Rules and Regulations for Scholarship Recipients, apply to the BOND which all scholarship recipients are required to sign. Any breach of these rules constitutes a direct breach of the bond and its stipulations.
** All students will be bonded and, as a result, will be required upon completion of their studies to return to or remain in Antigua and Barbuda to complete a maximum of three (3) years of work within the private or public sector.
** It is a requirement that all sureties must have collateral.
** Failure to complete programme of studies within a maximum of one (1) year of scheduled completion date (date stated on bond documents) will result in (c) and or (d) of the penalties listed at the end of this document.
** Failure of the awardees to return to Antigua and Barbuda within six (6) months of the date of completion of their approved course of studies without prior approval from the Board of Education, will require that the awardees reimburse the Board of Education all monies issued to them or on their behalf plus five (5%) per cent interest per annum.
** In the event that awardees wish to pursue additional studies after completion of the approved programme of studies, he/she may apply to the Board of Education for a deferral of the fulfilment of the bond agreement.
