What is e-Card?

Note:
This applies for both persons who have their own health insurance severance, as also for their eligible relatives, such as Children and spouse. Persons who pursue a “free profession” can apply for an e-card for ELGA purposes (if they have opted out of the statutory health insurance or are excluded from the statutory health insurance and are not insured in the statutory health insurance under statutory health insurance).
How To Apply For e-Card?
Your employer will register you with the social security as soon as you start working in Austria. From this point on, you are insured. Your employer must inform you of your Austrian . You can go to the doctor with this social security number in Austria, even if you do not yet have an e-card. An e-card can only be issued if a photo is available or a legal exception applies.
Own one of the following documents:
** Austrian passport,
** Austrian identity card,

** Austrian credit card licence,

Or have you registered a photo for the e-card within the last seven years? Then you do not need to do anything and automatically receive your e-card. If you do not own any of these documents, please take a photo to the registrar responsible for you so that the e-card can be issued.
