Process:
** A police report must be obtained from a police station within the community.
** The applicant must then complete a Research Information Form and submit all supporting documents to the Road Traffic Department, Driver’s Licence Unit.
** The Clerk will research the applicant’s driver licence record.
** After record has been found, payment has to be made to the cashier.
** Cashier will issue a receipt of payment to applicant.
** Upon further verification of all relevant information and documentation, the Photo Clerk will update and print the drivers licence.
** The duplicate driver’s licence would then be issued for the same period of the previous licence.

** National Identification (i.e. passport or voter’s card).
** Police Report
** Non-Bahamians should present their passport and documents from The Bahamas Immigration Department permitting them to reside (this includes work permit, residency spouse certificate or residency to reside.

The Transport Policy and Planning Unit was formed by the Government of The Bahamas as an initiative to develop its policy and planning capabilities in the Transport Sector. The current focus of the unit is to deal with surface transport. The Road Traffic Department is committed to providing a safe, sustainable and efficient transportation system through the enforcement of laws, responsible management, education and outstanding employee performance.

** To ensure a collaborative approach to address Road Safety.
** To encourage public participation and acquire views regarding improved regulations and the enforcement of road traffic rules and regulations.

** To make recommendations to amend the laws, regulations, policies and other measures the committee deem necessary for implementation by the Government of The Bahamas.
