What is Miscellaneous Vehicles?
Miscellaneous vehicles include vehicles with any hydraulic operating parts or hydraulic lifts. An “M” plate will be issued to all miscellaneous vehicles. Before any miscellaneous vehicles can be driven on the public road, the owner of the vehicle must obtain an approval letter called “Permit to operate Special Vehicles on Public Roads” from the Ministry of Works & Urban Development. This letter must accompany the other supporting vehicle documents when registering the vehicle with the Department of Road Traffic.

Note:
If a vehicle is more than 30 feet long, 8 feet wide and 12 feet high, it is considered oversized.
How To Get Miscellaneous Vehicles Permit in Bahamas?
** Obtain an application form “A Permit To Operate A Special Vehicle Or Trailer” from the Central Cervices Division, Ministry of Works & Urban Development or Ministry of Tourism
** Complete and submit the application form along with all supporting documents listed below to the Ministry of Works & Urban Development or local administrator.
** The Clerk will verify all relevant information and issue the approval Letter.
** Present the motor vehicle to your nearest Road Traffic Department in New Providence or the Family islands. The Administrator’s office will act on behalf of RTD in Bimini/Cat Cay, Harbor Island and Spanish Wells.
** Provide the Inspector at the location with all of your supporting documents.
** The Inspector will verify documents and perform the inspection on the vehicle. If vehicle fails the inspection the failure reason will be captured for RTD records.

** If the vehicle passes the inspection the owner will be given an Inspection Certificate of Fitness form to present to the RTD Customer Service Representative.
** Your vehicle will be registered under your TMN.
** Upon payment of the the required fees by the owner, the Cashier will issue the Vehicle License Disc, a Title Certificate and new motor vehicle licence plates.
