Educational Grants For Tertiary Level Studies:
Educational Grants are considered up to Undergraduate Degree level, including Certificates and Diplomas. These are determined by the Scholarships and Grants Committee.

These Grants will normally be awarded to applicants pursuing studies locally or regionally, i.e. University of the West Indies, Barbados Community College or any other tertiary educational institution. Where courses of study are only available overseas, consideration will be given to such applicants.
Requirements:
** Credit union membership, i.e. Thrift Club or General Membership must exist for at least two (2) years, and the applicant should demonstrate commitment to the credit union by maintaining a minimum of $300 in savings and, if indebted to the credit union, not currently delinquent.
** Written proof of acceptance to a university or other tertiary level institution.
** Written proof of performance and academic qualifications to date.
** Official evidence of the cost of the course of study.
** Evidence of financial resources to support the course of study in the case of overseas students.
** Members must demonstrate that, due to his/her financial status, there is a definite need for financial assistance, i.e. income and expenditure statement.
** Deadlines for submission of applications will be set by Credit Union in consideration of the semester system, i.e. Term 1 – August to December and Term 2 – January to May.
** Interviews may be conducted with short-listed candidates, where necessary.
** Members must submit annual reports/transcripts of academic performance in order to be considered for further support.

** Application forms, along with supporting documentation should be returned to the Business Development & Planning Department.
** All Awards will be issued in keeping with the policy of the Board of Directors.
Ralph Boyce Scholarships:
These awards are open to two (2) nationals of Barbados who have gained admission to the University of the West Indies (UWI) to read for a degree in any discipline. Requirements
Members must be between the ages 16 and 25 years and pursuing first degree, first year, full-time studies at any campus of the UWI.
Members must be in good financial standing by maintaining a minimum of $300 in savings for at least 3 years and must show evidence of good academic performance and financial need.
Two Ralph Boyce Scholarships will be given in the form of an educational grant over a three or four year period. Continuation of the Scholarship shall be contingent on the candidates’ academic performance of at least GPA of 3.3 (B+ Average).
Each award shall be BDS$7,500.00 for studies at Cave Hill Campus or BDS$9,000.00 for studies at any other Campus of the UWI – to be paid in equal parts over a three or four year period.
The continuance of the awards shall be contingent on reports of good conduct and satisfactory academic progress. The awards may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited if the student fails to maintain the necessary standard.
The availability of the awards shall be suitably advertised by the University of the West Indies and the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited.
Selection of candidates for the awards shall be based on academic merit and financial need.
The Campus Undergraduate Awards Committee shall submit a short-list of six (6) candidates to the Scholarships, Grants and Social Outreach Committee of the Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Limited for final selection.
