How to Play:
Playing in Pools:
The pool is the core SuperBru experience. Whilst everyone competes on the global leaderboard, it’s in your pools that you’ll find the most fun. After all, competing against 10 or 15 friends or colleagues has got to be more fun than competing against thousands of strangers.

Kinds of pools:
You may play in up to 7 pools.

Autopool:
Autopools are the simplest kind of pool. If you don’t join a standard pool when you join the tournament, you will automatically be allocated to an autopool of around 20 other people. The public pool names start at Autopool 001 and fill up from there. Before the start of a tournament, you may move around autopools, finding one you’d like to be in, but a few days after the first game is played we shut off all migration among the autopools – find out more about autopool lockdown.

Standard pool:
Anyone can set up a free pool, thereby becoming the pool’s captain. Once you’ve set up your pool, you can invite people to play in it. There is currently no limit to the number of players who can take part in a private pool, but the experience will degrade substantially beyond a few tens of players. We recommend around 30 players as the maximum.

SuperPool:
For a small fee, a standard pool can be upgraded to a SuperPool, giving access to a whole host of extra features and scalability.

MegaPool:
MegaPools are designed for big brands that wish to run a branded experience inside SuperBru. This could be a competition for your employees or clients, or a means of engaging with a new audience as part of a promotion you’re doing. MegaPools come with all the features of SuperPools plus more and can gracefully handle thousands of players. Please contact us on sales@superbru.com for pricing and a customised quote.

Managing your pools:
Use the my pools page to manage your pools – you can create, join and resign from pools here. Try to get this all sorted out before the tournament kicks off, as it becomes more difficult once the first game has been played (for example, you’ll not be eligible for any Bonus Points for the games played prior to your joining a pool).

Making Picks:
In a nutshell, the aim of SuperBru is to make predictions of the outcomes of the games in a sports tournament. The more accurate you are, the more you’ll be rewarded – check out the scoring system for more info on scoring.

General FAQ :

How do I make picks?:
Visit the make picks page to make predictions. On the make picks page, you’ll be able to choose what round or games to pick. You don’t need to do all the games at once, as long as you get the pick for each game in by the start of play as we have it advertised. The choices you make will apply in all your pools – i.e. you only make one pick per game in SuperBru, and it gets filtered into all your pools.

What will I predict?:
This depends on the sport. In most team ball sports, we ask you to predict the winning team and margin of victory. In others, you will predict the exact score. In individual sports like motorsport and golf, more complex prediction models apply.

When can I make my picks?:
As soon as we have the games loaded for a tournament, you’ll be able to make your picks, even weeks ahead to far distant rounds. Sometimes in the case of knockout rounds, you’ll need to wait for us to load the participating teams, which will be decided by a previous round, but we try to get this done as soon as we know the relevant results.

What is the deadline for making picks?:
The deadline is the start of play of each game as we have it listed. However, we strongly encourage you to give yourself at least a few hours before the start of play to ensure that you get your picks in safely. The site can be extremely busy at kick-off time.

What if I can’t make my picks?:
If you have any trouble, the most important thing is to get your predictions on the record before the start of play. Contact us or email us at support@superbru.com with your predictions, and we’ll add them for you. Sometimes it might take us a while, but at least they are on record. We cannot accept any picks after the deadline. If you do contact us, don’t just say “I can’t make my picks”: tell us “I can’t make my picks – here is what I want: ” and list your predictions. If you don’t make any picks, you may be allocated a default pick.

Where can I see my picks and the results?:
All your picks and the your pool’s results are displayed in the pool results pages. Click the tab for your pool in the navigation up top, then select “View picks/results”. Your individual picks are also visible on your player performance page.

When will I get my email reminder?:
We send out reminders to make picks by email; you should receive one email per round of the tournament (unless you’ve already made your picks for that round). Generally these reminders go out about 48 hours before the first game of the round. Please note that we cannot guarantee safe delivery of your email reminder (due to spam filters, internet connectivity, etc.). Treat the reminder as a nice-to-have, not a guarantee: not receiving a reminder will not be an excuse for not having made your picks.

Can I change my picks?:
Yes, this tournament permits you to change your picks up until kick-off, as long as you have not locked them. When you make a pick, it is unlocked, meaning it can be changed. However, if you want to see what other people in your pool have picked, or if you want to look at community stats, you will need to lock your pick first. Once you have locked a pick, you can’t change it. Picks can be locked on the pool results or community stats pages,

What does a locked / unlocked pick mean?:
Unlocked picks can be changed, whilst locked picks cannot. If you have an unlocked pick for a particular match, you will not be able to see what other people have picked, or see community stats.

Do I have to lock my picks?:
No. When you make your picks, they are saved as unlocked picks. If you do not lock them, they will lock automatically when the match kicks off.

Why are all picks not kept hidden until a game has started?:
Some players have asked us to hide all picks in a pool until the pick deadline, so that there is no chance of somebody being told by a friend what other people in the pool have picked so that he can make a better pick. We have resisted this as we feel a core part of the fun of SuperBru is knowing everyone’s picks as you go into a match, particularly if you are watching it on TV. However, pool captains who upgrade their pools to SuperPools may choose to hide picks until kick-off in their pools.
