Residence Permit For Medical Treatment :
If you plan to travel to Norway to receive medical treatment, you must apply for a residence permit. If you need someone to accompany you, he or she can also be granted such a residence permit.

Such residence permits can only be granted for a total of no more than one year.

Requirements for applying:
** You must pay an application fee
** You must have received an offer of medical treatment from a treatment institution in Norway.
** You must pay for the medical treatment with your own money or public funds from your home country.
** The hospital/ outpatient clinic must confirm that your treatment will not lead to patients living in Norway receiving poorer health services.
** You must not be subject to a prohibition against entry to Norway or Schengen
** The treatment must not be likely to take more than one year.
** If must be likely that you will leave Norway when your residence permit expires.
How do you pay the fee?:
** If you register your application through the Application Portal Norway, you pay the fee by credit card at the same time.
** If you are not able to use the Application Portal Norway you must pay the fee at the latest when you hand in the application at the embassy or consulate. You can pay in cash or by using a credit card. If you pay in advance, you must enclose the original receipt with your application.

How to apply for a residence permit for medical treatment:
You must apply from your home country
Applications for residence permits for medical treatment must be submitted to the embassy in your home country (see above).
If you are already in Norway and your medical condition is acute, it may be possible for you to submit the application in Norway instead. Please ask the UDI about this possibility before submitting your application.
