Welcome to the Citation/Court Filing Fee Payment transaction.

If you received a civil motor vehicle citation issued by the state or local police in Massachusetts, this transaction allows you to pay either your citation in full or pay the court filing fee if you have requested a hearing. If you choose to pay your citation, your right to a hearing will be waived.
Citation Payments:
Allow at least ten (10) business days from the issue date before attempting to pay via the Internet to ensure the citation has been entered into our database. RMV-2 Renewal Card
Court Filing Fee Payments:
In order to pay the fee online, the RMV must have received and processed your request for a hearing. You should have received a letter from us stating that we received your request for a hearing and instructions to pay the fee.
You may pay by credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa) or electronic check (E-Check).
To get started you will be required to enter the citation number and the offense/incident date. This can be found on the letter you received or on the citation (see example).
Note:
The Registry of Motor Vehicles does not collect payment for parking tickets or excise tax. You must go to the city or town that issued the ticket or excise tax bill.

Vehicles Transferred from Family Members :
** You are exempt from paying sales tax on a vehicle transferred from any of the following family members: father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, or daughter. Sales Tax Exemption form (MVU-26) will need to be completed by the family member transferring the vehicle. The exemption does not apply if transferred from a grandparent, cousin, uncle or aunt.
Vehicles Transferred as a Gift :
** You may be exempt from paying sales tax on a vehicle transferred to you as a gift from another person.
** The person transferring the vehicle must have satisfied the tax laws of the state where the vehicle was registered and/or titled. In addition to the title and registration fees, a $25 fee will be collected at the time the vehicle is titled/registered.
** A Sales Tax Exemption form (MVU-24) will need to be completed by the person gifting the vehicle.
To Obtain a Registration and Title, you will need to submit the following in person at any RMV Full Service Center :
** An Application for Registration & Title (RMV-1 Form) completed and signed by the owner, stamped by your insurance company
** Previous owner’s Certificate of Title assigned to the new owner, or the previous registration and the bill of sale (for vehicles that are exempt from title because of their age)
** $75.00 title fee
** Registration fee (fees vary by plate type, refer to the Fee Chart)
** Sales tax exemption form (Family MVU-26 or Gift MVU-24) completed and signed by previous owner.
** $25.00 gift fee, if applicable
** If presenting the previous owner’s title, be sure the date transferred, odometer reading and the purchase price (GIFT if the vehicle was given to you), have been completed on the back. The back of the title must be signed by the previous owner(s) and you.
** After completing the transaction, you will receive a registration certificate, new plates and a year of expiration decal for the rear plate or a registration certificate with the new vehicle information. The title will be processed and mailed to you in approximately six (6) to eight (8) weeks.
** You must obtain a vehicle inspection sticker within seven (7) days of the registration date.
