Balance Due Returns :
E-File your balance-due return and receive the advantage of the accuracy of e-file and the knowledge that your return was received by the State Tax Department.

There are three ways to pay:
** Electronic Funds Withdrawal or Direct Debit, as it is also known, allows the balance to be automatically deducted from your checking account. You can choose to pay the balance due at the time of filing or delay the payment until April 15th. It’s your choice, and there’s no check to write or get lost in the mail.
** Pay with a Credit Card at anytime prior to the tax due date.
** For those who prefer the old fashioned method, you can pay with a check attached to the IT-140V Individual Income Tax Electronic Payment Voucher and Instructions . The voucher is used to match your payment to your tax return and is all that is required to be sent with the check.
Caution: Please do not send a copy of your tax return as this can cause needless delays in processing the payment.
Credit Card Payments:
Convenience, Flexibility, and Rewards.
Enjoy the convenience, flexibility, and rewards of credit card payments for taxes. Effective June 25, 2012, in cooperation with the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office, the Tax Department offers individuals and businesses the opportunity to pay taxes by credit card directly over the Internet.
The West Virginia State Treasure’s Office charges a convenience fee based upon the amount of the transaction. The convenience fee is currently 2.5% of the payment amount, with a minimum charge of $1.00. *The convenience fee is subject to change.
Please note that the tax amount and convenience fee will appear on your credit card statement as two separate charges.
To pay by credit card:
To pay by credit card, select the Pay Taxes by Credit Card link, or visit https://epay.wvsto.com/tax/Default.aspx.
You will be asked to select and enter information, such as:
** Identification type and number.
** Tax type.
** Payment type and amount.
** Filing period.
** Credit card information.
The system will:
** Tell you the total of your payment, including the appropriate fee.
** Obtain approval of the charge.
** Provide a printable receipt, including a Confirmation Number.
** Email the payment receipt to the address provided.
Direct Deposit:
Taxpayers who choose Direct Deposit will receive their refunds in about 11 working days from the acknowledgment date compared to 3-5 weeks for mailed paper returns.
Direct Deposit is available for both electronic and on-Line filing. It is faster, safer and easier to track should any questions arise.
Direct Deposit is not only more reliable: It also costs less, saving taxpayer dollars.
Returned Refund Fee:
Beginning January 1, 2015, rejected direct deposit refund transactions with incorrect bank information, will be subject to a $15.00 returned electronic service charge. This would include refunds to closed accounts, refunds to accounts containing inaccurate or illegible account information.
