Passport Application Procedure :

The issuance of British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC) /Montserrat Passports is governed by the British Nationality Act 1981, which came into effect on 1 January 1983.

Before a BOTC Passport can be issued, the applicant must satisfy the passport authorities that he/she is a BOTC – either by descent or otherwise than by descent.

If the applicant cannot prove his/her entitlement to British Overseas Territories (Montserrat) Citizenship then a passport cannot be issued to him/her.

BOTC Passport Fees:
Issue of Passport – EC$ 50.00
Replacing lost valid passport – EC$250.00
Replacing damaged or defaced passport – EC$250.00
Replacing passport lost due to fire, flood or hurricane – EC$ 50.00
Issue of certificate of identity (sea-man’s passport) -EC$ 25.00

Application Forms:
Application for United Kingdom Passport Forms C1 and C2 are to be completed. These forms are available from the Department of Administration.

Form C1 to be completed by persons 16 years and over and Form C2 for person under 16 years.

(BII):
** Current passport
** Relevant parent’s birth/naturalization/registration certificate
** Persons who do not fit into any of the categories above may qualify to be registered/naturalized as BOTC.

Who Qualifies as a BOTC (of Montserrat)
(A) The following categories of persons born prior to 1/1/83 automatically acquired BOTC on 1/1/83.

** Persons born, naturalized or registered in Montserrat.
** Persons born to a parent who at the time of birth was…
** a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (CUKC) and either..
** *acquired that status by birth, naturalization, or registration in Montserrat or

** * was born to a parent who, at the time of the birth was a CUKC by birth, naturalization or registration in Montserrat.
** *A woman who was immediately prior to 1/1/83, a CUKC and was the wife of a man who was a BOTC of Montserrat.

** * The first prerequisite is that the person was a CUKC on 31/12/82. A person acquired citizenship of the UKC before 1/1/83 through birth (legitimate or otherwise) or through legitimate descent from a father so born.
