Birth Registration/Declaration:
All births occuring in the Republic should be registered within 30 days from the date of birth.

Birth should be registered at the regional office where it took place. The birth may be declared by both parents. The maternity certificate and both National Identity Card (ID Card) of the parents (where applicable) should be produced.
Two witnesses are to be present with their ID Cards at the time of declaration.

A person may require to apply for a new birth certificate may be because the original one is lost or for any other reason.
Where can I get a birth certificate?:
The Civil Status Office is the only office that has the authority to issue birth certificate. If you were born in Seychelles you can obtain a copy of your birth certificate at Civil Status. Location: Central Office Independence House Ground Floor Victoria Mahé
What document I need to present?:
Any document that would able to identify you, which have the National Identification Number (N.I.N) such as:
** National Identity Card
** Passport
** Driving License
How much does it cost?:
Both large extract of the certificate and an abridged copy can be obtained for Rs50/- each.

Any person can obtain a birth certificate from the Civil Status office upon payment and required document.

Application For Citizenship By Naturalisation :
You may apply for citizenship by naturalisation if you fall under the following criteria: – (See below *)
i) You have been married to a Seychelles citizen (For marriages from 29th June 1976 and after) for a period of at least 10 years, and
ii) Has been a legal resident in Seychelles for a period of 5 years or more immediately before making this application;
iii) You have obtain at least 80% marks in 1 of the 3 national languages in the citizenship qualifying examination;
iv) You have not been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 1 year or more for an offence punishable under any laws of Seychelles;
v) You have not been absent from Seychelles for a continuous period of one year or more without the written permission of the Minister.
