Activating your eID Account :
To activate your eID Account you need to carry out the following steps:
** First, enter your eID number and password which were supplied to you via email by the Registration Authority.
** After doing so, click on Sign in
** Given that this is the first time that you tried to log into the system, you will need to submit your PIN. This is done to secure your privacy.
** Click on Sign in again
** Once your PIN and eID Number are accepted, you will need to change your password.
** Enter your eID and password received via email
** Enter your new password…
** … and confirm it
** Click on Change Password
** The activation process is now ready. You will need to log in again with your new password

How to sign-in:
Using mygov.mt – Logging into the system. The following are the steps required in order to log into the system without a digital certificate:
** First, enter your eID number, followed by your password. The password was sent to you via email when your account was approved.
** To complete the operation, click on Sign In.
** You are now ready to use mygov.mt

How to sign-in using a Digital Certificate:
** Authenticating using a Digital Certificate. The following are the steps required in order to sign-in using a secure connection.
** First, click on Select Digital Certificate link. This will show you a list of certificates, from which you have to choose one.
** After selecting the certificate click OK. After doing so, the selected certificate details are placed on screen for you to verify.
** Next step is to enter your credentials, starting from the eID number and followed by your password. Clicking on Sign In will grant you access into mygov.mt using a digital certificate.
** You are now ready to make use of mygov.mt

How can I use mygov.mt’s Help?
mygov.mt presents you with a comprehensive context sensitive help system, in both video and text format. Whenever required, a HELP link is made available within the menu bar (black bar), along with an FAQs link (this link).

When clicking on the HELP link, a new window will be loaded showing all the possible actions you may carry out through the current screen. For each possible action, a link to an animation showing all the steps required and their corresponding textual descriptions is provided. [back]

What is the significance of the icons used throughout the portal?
Most pages start with introductory text presented by the e-Government Assistant. Throughout other parts of the portal icons are used to represent key sections of the site.

The following is a brief guide of what the icons stand for :
** This icon represents selections of help text which are specific to a certain section of mygov.mt (e.g. how to use the My e-Government services section). When you do this additional text will appear on the screen. When you are finished reading it, you may click on the icon again to hide this help text.

** This icon represents key help text for a particular webpage. This is not an active icon and nothing happens if you click it.
** This icon represents a point of information about the portal itself (e.g. a site map, privacy statement).

What about my privacy?
Strict separation of duties in the registration and verification and authentication processes further enhances the trust and security of the system and the services being offered to the public. An e-ID Number and password is sent to you by e-mail, whilst a PIN activation code is sent to the registered address by post. The Citizen remains in control of his/her personal data and can access this personal information being stored and processed by Government.

      If you don't have a new Identity Card, then you need to visit the Registration Offices in Blata l-Bajda Malta or in Rabat (Gozo), and apply for a new Identity Card while also providing an email address. The registration for an e-ID account will be made automatically with your request for a new Identity Card.
