How do I Track an item?:
For items leaving Gibraltar, you need to check in the post office website of the destination country and enter the unique postal tracking number without spaces (eg- RR123456789GI) into their track/trace field. The status of your item will then be shown once the item has arrived and been scanned in that country. Not unsurprisingly, our most common destination is the UK. Information on any item may also be available in the RGPO website if our website has received this information from the destination country.
For items arriving in Gibraltar simply enter the postal reference number on the ‘Track Trace‘ page of this website and click ‘Track Item’. The status of the item will be shown once it arrives in Gibraltar.
What do the different parts of the tracking number mean?:
Postal item numbers numbers are also used for tracking and have the same general format, Eg- “RR123456789GI” . This is the alpha-numeric version of the code (ie- readable by humans) and is sometimes shown with spaces (eg- RR 1234 5678 9 GI) just to facilitate it’s reading by humans. The bar-code contains the same data but in a machine readable format.
The number is made up as follows:
The first two letters denote the type of service,
eg- “RR”, “RJ”, “RI”, etc. = Registered,
eg- “CP”, “CJ”, etc. = Parcel,
eg- “EE” = Express Mail Service (EMS),
(numerous other combinations exist)
The first eight numbers denote a unique sequential number,
eg- from ’00000001′ to ’99999999′
The ninth number is an automatically generated ‘check digit’ used for scanning accuracy purposes,
The last two letters denote the country of origin, based on the ISO two letter country code,
eg- “GI” denotes Gibraltar,
eg- “GB” denotes UK (Great Britain),
eg- “US” denotes USA,
eg- “IT” denotes Italy,

My tracking number is invalid or incorrect. What should I do?:
Firstly, check that you have entered the tracking number correctly, that you entered ‘no spaces’ and that the letter parts of the number were in capitals.
It may also be that the item is in transit and has not yet reached the country of destination.
Which countries have internet tracking facilities?:
Not all countries have websites. Of those that do, many have as yet no provision for offering tracking information. However, the number of countries that do is increasing. For various reasons, some countries only have information for one service only (normally EMS) and not for others. However, most European and industrialized nations already offer comprehensive internet based tracking facilities. What is Proof of Delivery?:
Proof of delivery is the provision of information (historically a signature) that is captured when your item is delivered. It normally includes the delivery date/time and the recipient’s name. With modern technology this confirmation may be visible online and has mostly replaced the need for needing a copy of the signature. Note- the UK may include a digital image of the recipient’s signature, however this facility is not yet common.

Electronic signatures:
A few countries provide an electronic image of the actual signature of the person who signed for the item on screen. In some instances the recipient’s signature may look jagged or skewed. This is due to the manner in which the signature was recorded, ie- on a digital hand held device. The sharpness of the resulting image is dependant on the resolution of the touch screen that was used.
