Searching Trade Mark/ Patent Register online :
IP Searches:
The Trade Mark Register, Design Register and Patent Register can be searched online. It is also possible to request a formal search of any registers held by the Intellectual Property Office.

Searching the Trade Mark Register online:
A search of the Trade Mark Register may be performed online by clicking ‘Register Search’ on the right hand side of the page. This allows searching by trade mark number, device or word. For more information on how to use the online search, see the guidance available to download below.
Proprietor searches are not currently possible using the online service. A proprietor search may be conducted by requesting a search report (see below).
Searching the Designs Register online:
The Designs Register is available to search by clicking the link here. The register statements available for each design provide more detailed information. A formal search report is also available.
Searching the Patent Register online:
The Patent Register is available to search online by clicking the link here. Register statements are not currently available online for every patent registered. Should you require more detailed information please contact the IPO.
Searching the Image Rights Register online:
The Image Rights Register is available to search online by clicking the link here. You will need to be logged in to view the Register.
Requesting a formal search report:
If you require a search to be conducted by the IPO, you will need to complete the form ‘Request for a search of the IP register’ (available to download below) and return it to us along with the £25 search fee.

** Trade mark submissions may be made by the following persons:
Trade mark proprietors :
** If you are the proprietor of a trade mark, you may make submissions directly to the Intellectual Property Office.
Agents :
** If you are acting on behalf of a trade mark proprietor (i.e. as their agent or representative), you must be a registered trade mark agent.
** The register of trade mark agents is available to view here.
** Forms for the registration and ongoing administration of trade marks, along with information regarding the necessary fees, are available to download below.
** Schedule published 1 March 2016.
** The fees regulations are available to download at the bottom of the page should you require further information.
