We award scholarships to outstanding students who are keen to pursue a career in MSF. Scholars can look forward to challenging and fulfilling careers in the Ministry upon graduation.

What scholarships does MSF offer?:
1. Local Merit Scholarship:
To pursue undergraduate studies at local universities such as the:
** National University of Singapore (NUS)
** Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
** Singapore Management University (SMU)
2. Singapore Government Scholarship:
To pursue undergraduate studies at overseas universities in countries such as:
** Asia & Oceania – China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand
** Americas – Canada, United States
** Europe – France, Germany, United Kingdom
Who can apply for MSF scholarships?:
1. You must be either a:
Singapore Citizen; or
** Permanent Resident intending to take up citizenship
2. You must have one of the following qualifications:
** GCE ‘A’ levels (in general you should offer 11 units)
** Polytechnic Diploma with Merit
** Equivalent qualification (e.g. International Baccalaureate)
3. You should also have:
** Good Co-Curricular Activities record
** Strong leadership qualities
** Strong interest in a career with MSF
What does the scholarship offer?:
Local Merit Scholarship:
** Full tuition fees
** Hostel fees^
** Maintenance allowance
** Book allowance
** Computer allowance (once-off)
** Sponsorship for student exchange programme*
Singapore Government Scholarship:
** Full tuition fees
** Return economy class airfare
** Maintenance allowance
** Book allowance
** Settling-in allowance (once-off)
** Computer allowance (once-off)
** Warm clothing allowance (once-off)
** Sponsorship for student exchange programme*
^ You are required to stay at least 1 academic year in the university hostel
* Subject to the Ministry’s approval

Can a foreigner apply to be a para counsellor in MSF?
MSF presently does not have positions for para counsellors. However, you may wish to consider volunteering at the Ministry of Social and Family Development. You can refer to the following link for more information.
Can I bring food for my child in the Home?
You can bring food for your child during the parent visits.
Can I have a list of Homes for Children and Young Persons?
There are 22 Children and Young Persons Homes providing residential care programmes for children and young persons in Singapore
Can I have the statistics relating to the number of offenders sent to Prisons every year?
This is under the purview of the Singapore Prison Service. You may wish to visit their website at .sps.gov.sg for more information.
