Leadership and talent are key drivers of organisation success. In the midst of a complex business environment and continued growth in Asia, human capital needs of organisations in the region will rise significantly, making human capital a critical success factor.

Organisations require strong HR capabilities and competent HR professionals to develop their human capital strategy and implement effective talent development programmes to steer their growth.

The National HR Scholarship :
Recognising the vital role that HR plays, the Ministry of Manpower intiated the National HR Scholarship to raise awareness of the importance of HR, and elevate the profession in Singapore. Over time, the scholarship seeks to build a pipeline of talent with a strong passion of HR.
The National HR Scholarship offers you a prestigious route towards an industry leadership position where your HR expertise will be highly valued. The scholarship also provides you an exceptional value proposition, combining the prestige of a government scholarship with career opportunities at future-oriented private sector companies. Up to nine scholarships will be awarded each year to local undergraduates specialising in HR.

Scholarship terms :
The National HR Scholarship is a midterm scholarship that provides the following support for the remaining duration of your undergraduate studies (i.e. two or three years)
** Tuition fees and other compulsory university fees
** Monthly allowances
** Sponsorship for approved training and development programmes as well as overseas exchange programmes and work attachments of up to $25,000
** Hostel fees

Note :
You will need to serve a bond with your chosen sponsor company. Part of the duration should be served in a role where your HR skills may be applied.

The bond duration is :
** Two years for two-year scholarship
** Three years for three-year scholarship

Eligibility criteria :

You have to :
** Be at least a second year undergraduate in academic year 2014/2015 of one of the following programmes and have at least one full year of studies remaining :
** Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Bachelor of Business (BB) with a Human Resource Consulting Specialisation
** National University of Singapore (NUS) Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or BBA (Accountancy) with a Management & Human Capital Major
** Bachelor Degree from any Singapore Management University (SMU) Schools with a Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Major
** Attain a cumulative grade point average that qualifies for at least a “Pass with Merit” or equivalent upon application
** Possess a strong interest in HR and a keen interest to work for home-grown companies
** Possess strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

Application and selection process :
If you are interested, you can apply for the scholarship. Applications are open till Monday, 14 July 2014.

The selection process is as follows :
** Your application will be forwarded to your chosen industry partners
** Industry partners will contact you to arrange interviews if you make their shortlist
** Shortlisted candidates will undergo a psychometric assessment before the interviews
** Final round interviews with MOM are expected to take place in August
** Scholarship offers will be made by September
