** Australian Migration Status ImmiCards are issued mainly to Refugee and Special Humanitarian Programme (RSHP) visa holders, and a small number of non-RSHP visa holders, who do not have, or cannot obtain, a passport recognized by the Australian Government.

** Australian Migration Status ImmiCards will facilitate one way travel and entry to Australia and will also be the commencement of identity credential to enrol for services and acquire future identity credentials.
** The Australian Migration Status ImmiCard is a label-free travel document.

Checking an ImmiCard holder’s visa status :
** The ImmiCard number allows visa holders and registered Australian organisations to check visa entitlements and status information, including visa grant date, through the Visa Entitlement Verification Online system known as VEVO.
** VEVO is a free online service that gives visa holders, employers and other registered organisations easy and quick access to visa status and entitlement information 24 hours a day.
** In addition to conducting VEVO checks, card holders can send employers and other organisations information about their visa status.

** Card holders should go to VEVO and select “Check your own visa details with VEVO”, enter their Visa Grant Number, their ImmiCard number and their date of birth and enter, “Australia” as the country of passport/ImmiCard.
** Once a Visa Entitlement Check has been returned, the card holder can select “Send Email” and enter the desired e-mail address in the field provided to send their visa details (including their personal details) to a third party.
** Residence Determination ImmiCards are not verifiable through VEVO because community detainees do not have an Australian visa.

What if I lose my Australian Migration Status Immicard before I travel?
** If you lose your Australian Migration Status (AMS) ImmiCard before you travel to Australia, you will need to advise the local border or airline officer immediately.

** If your travel cannot be facilitated, you will also need to contact the International Organization for Migration (IOM) or the Australian Embassy/High Commission as a new ImmiCard will need to be issued.

** This could cause some delays to your travel so it is important to keep your ImmiCard safe with you at all times.

Card expiry :
** ImmiCards are issued with a 3 year expiry date.
** The expiry date is not linked to the card holder’s visa.

** Expired ImmiCards can still be used after the expiry date to verify visa status through VEVO or the Document Verification Service.
** However, clients are able to replace their expired card online.
