Apply for Transfer applicants :
** Apply as a transfer student if you have attended a postsecondary institution after graduating from high school (with the exception of attendance during the summer term immediately following graduation) OR if you have earned a bachelor’s degree at another college or university and are seeking to earn another bachelor’s degree or teaching certificate.

How you apply :
** Start your application and send your transcripts.
After you apply :
** Check your application status and update your application information.
Admissions Criteria :
** Admission as a transfer student is based on consistent academic performance at all current and previously attended institutions.
** A cumulative grade point average is calculated from all courses completed and attempted with all grades or course designations.
Students who complete the following at least one full semester (16 weeks) before their desired term of enrollment will be considered more competitive in the admissions process –
** An equivalent to MSU WRA 101/WRA 110-150/WRA 195H
** An equivalent to MSU MTH 103, 110, 116, 124, 132 or higher
** 28 or more credits deemed transferable to MSU
** 3.0 GPA or higher, with consistent grade performance
** Students with 42 or more completed credits must select a major; the majors of no preference, pre-medical, pre-nursing, pre-optometry and pre-veterinary cannot be chosen.
** Many limited enrollment majors have additional admission requirements.
Application checklist :
** Complete MSU’s application for admission online, including the required personal statement.
** Pay the $50 nonrefundable application fee using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or an electronic check (online applications only).
** Self-report your academic record through your account. Do not submit official transcripts until after you have been admitted.
** MSU does NOT require letters of recommendation as part of the application for admission.
If you have completed less than 28 semester credits, you must also submit :
** Official high school transcript(s) sent electronically to MSU by your high school through an electronic delivery service such as Docufide, Naviance, or E Scrip-Safe.
** If your school does not have access to these services they may send official hard-copy documents via mail to the Office of Admissions.
** ACT or SAT scores sent directly to MSU by the testing agency.
** The ACT code is 2032; the SAT code is 1465.
** You are required to submit the writing portion of the test.
** For more information about having your scores sent from the testing agency, visit ACT or SAT online.
After you apply :
** You’re almost here. Just one more thing to do: self-report your academic record.
** Then we’ll take it from here.
** Admission decisions can take up to 12 weeks after all application materials are received.
** If you applied online, log in to your account to see your application’s status and to confirm if all your required application materials have been received.
Edit email or address :
** If you need to edit your email or address, simply login to your account and click on the “Edit address” or “Edit email” button in the control panel.
Change semester :
** If you have already applied to Michigan State University and would like to defer your application to a future semester, log in to your account and click on the “Change semester” button in the control panel.
** Semester changes are not available between July 1 and October 1. Students may only change to a semester up to one year past the original desired semester of enrollment.
** Any semester changes beyond one year will require a new application.
** Deferments to future semesters are not automatic.
** You may be required to supply additional information, and your admission to the new semester will be reviewed again with the applicant pool for that semester.
Change major :
** If you have already applied to Michigan State University and would like to change your major, log in to your account and click on the “Change major” button in the control panel.
** If you change your major prior to an admission decision, your application processing time will start over.
** Students are encouraged to wait until after being admitted to change their major.
Canceling admission :
** If you decide you are not going to attend MSU, please cancel your admission to make space for another student.
** Log in to your account and click on the “Cancel application” button in the control panel.
** Students who have been offered admission and who have already submitted the Advanced Enrollment Deposit (AED) can request a refund before May 1 preceding fall semester.
