Requirements :
Concurrent/Dual Credit :
** If you have attempted collegiate work through a concurrent or dual credit program while in high school, you must meet beginning freshmen admission requirements (regardless of hours earned) and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on collegiate transfer work.

** Official transcript from the college(s) you have attended must be submitted to MSU Admissions.
Early Notification of Acceptance :
** A beginning freshman student desiring early notification of an acceptance to the University may submit an application, either ACT or SAT scores, STAAR or TAKS scores, and a copy of the official high school transcript reflecting grades through the sixth semester of the junior year.
** A projected date of graduation and class rank should be indicated on the transcript.
** Pending admission status may be given if all necessary information is not available to MSU Admissions.
** Early notification of acceptance may be advanced to full acceptance for admission after graduation from high school is verified with MSU Admissions by submission of an official high school transcript showing date of graduation and rank in class.
Special Admission :
** Students who graduate from an unaccredited high school or home study program or completed a GED in lieu of the high school diploma, will be considered for admission on an individual basis.
** ACT/SAT minimum scores are required.
Automatic Admission :
** for accredited Texas public high school graduates only!
** Students will be admitted if they graduate in the top ten percent of their class from an accredited Texas public high school if they meet the following conditions
** graduated from high school within the two years prior to the academic year for which admission is sought; and
** submitted a complete application before the deadline.
** Students in this category may be required to enroll in certain courses in the summer after graduation or during the first semester of enrollment.
** ACT/SAT scores must be submitted.
For admission, students must :
High School Curriculum Requirements :
** To ensure students are adequately prepared for college-level work at MSU, students applying for admission must complete one of the following high school curriculum plans
** Recommended High School Program
** Advanced High School Program
** Distinguished Achievement Program on the Texas Foundations Plan
** Texas Foundations Plan plus Endorsement
OR
** Students who attended a Texas public high school that did not offer one of the acceptable high school curriculum plans above or who have only completed a portion of a plan because not all courses were available AND who have not met the College Readiness Benchmarks may complete the HB 3826 Exemption Form and submit it for review; or
** Students who have not successfully completed one of the curriculum programs listed above must show successful completion of a high school curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor or satisfy the College Readiness Benchmarks on the SAT or ACT entrance exams

** Information about AP, CLEP, IB, DANTES and Proficiency Exams is on the Credit by Exam website.
6. Bacterial Meningitis :
** The Texas Legislature passed SB 1107, effective January 1, 2012, requiring all students under the age of 22 entering an institution of higher education in Texas to either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet certain criteria to decline the vaccination before the first day of the semester.
** Midwestern State University has contracted Magnus Health to collect, review and securely store all student documents pertaining to the meningitis vaccine.
** Your must register through Magnus Health SMR ensuring that your registration for classes at MSU is not delayed.*
** You will need your Mustangs ID to log into your Magnus Health account through MSU’s Web Portal.
** *Students will not be able to register for class until this new requirement has been completed.
** The vaccine must be administered within the past five years and at least 10 days before the first official day of classes.
7. Early Academic Advising and Registration :
** Get a head start! Be advised early!
** Ask questions about your courses, major, and career goals.
** Create a schedule with your academic advisor.
** Register for classes.
8. Attend Orientation :
** It is required for all new students to attend M.O.R.E. (Mustangs Orientation and Registration Experience) or Orientation.
** At M.O.R.E. or orientation you will be introduced to life at MSU and register for your first classes.
9. Join the MSU Schools App Community :
** Schools App is a social media application that allows you to connect with other Mustangs!
