** Today, the system totals 214 state parks and historic sites encompassing 335,000 acres.

** Unlimited, day-use access to 180 NY state parks, 55 Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) forest preserve areas and Access to New York State-operated boat launch sites, arboretums and park preserves

Does the Empire Passport expire?
Empire Passports are available for different lengths of time :
** Annual Empire Passport: The annual Empire Passport provides unlimited access to New York State Parks.
** Multiple Year Empire Passports: Love parks? Get a 3- or 5-year Empire Passport.
** Lifetime Empire Passport: Once and for all, purchase a lifetime Empire Passport for full access to New York State Parks
** Annual, 3 Year & 5 Year Empire Passports expire March 31st of the following year or as printed on the decal. Lifetime Empire Passports do not expire.

Who can Purchase an Empire Passport?
** Empire passports are available to everyone, both New York State Residents and Non-State Residents. Fees are the same.

Do I need an Empire Passport to visit a park?
** No, however visitors can pay per visit, if they don’t have an Empire Passport.

Can someone else use my Lifetime Empire Passport?
** Since the Lifetime Empire Passport is an icon on an individual’s Driver License or Non-Drive ID, it can only be used by that individual.
** That person need not be the driver, but must be present in the vehicle.

Is this a 4×4 or fishing permit?
** No, 4×4 and fishing permits are exclusive to the Long Island Region.
