** Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS), should fill out a paper application to submit to KDHE rather than apply electronically.

** The paper application provides a greater amount of detail on how to apply for the Medicaid waiver in-home services, which allow people to remain in their homes and communities, as well as for medical care.

** Help paying Medicare premiums
** Your answers to a few short questions will let you know if your household might be eligible for Kansas Medical Assistance.
** Complete the questions based on your household’s conditions now.

** Estimates are allowed, but they need to be as correct as possible.
** After finishing the Assessment, you can review your answers and change them if necessary.
** The self-assessment can only tell you what your household might be able to qualify for and let you know whether it would be worth your time to apply.

** If the self-assessment results say you may qualify, it is not a promise that you will get medical assistance.
** There are lots of other steps that must happen before you actually get KanCare.
** You must submit an application for services in order for us to determine if you qualify for KanCare.

Eligibility Guidelines :
Children :
** The state of Kansas offers health coverage through KanCare to qualifying children under age 19.

** KanCare is available to children who qualify for either Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
** For families in some income categories, monthly premiums ranging from $20 to $50 per family apply

Pregnant Women :
** KanCare is available to expectant mothers who meet eligibility guidelines.
** The program offers comprehensive health coverage in addition to prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care

Adult Parents and Caregivers :
** KanCare is available to adult, non-disabled, non-elderly parents or caregivers of children younger than 19.
** Benefits and coverage are the same as those for children in KanCare.
** Enrollment for adults is limited to those who meet Medicaid eligibility guidelines.

Seniors and Disabled :
** Health coverage and long-term care for people over age 65 and people with disabilities is available through KanCare.
** Participants may also be eligible for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) as an alternative to institutional care.

** KanCare can be used in conjunction with Medicare benefits and covers some services, including nursing home and long-term care, that are not covered by Medicare.
** Participants may also receive financial assistance for Medicare Part D (prescription drug) expenses.
