How to Order Marriage Certificates :
** State law authorizes the issuance of certified copies of vital records. Uncertified copies or verifications are not provided to the public.

** State law also specifies that the initial $15.00 fee for a certified marriage certificate copy is a five-year record search fee – one certified copy is issued if the record is found and if not found, the fee is retained.
** You will receive either the certified copy or a letter explaining the search conducted and that no record was located.
** Marriage Licenses began being filed with this office May 1, 1913.
** Marriage information is open to the public at the county district court level.

** Completed marriage licenses are first filed with the County Clerk of the District Court in the county where the marriage license was issued.
** The District Courts then forward the completed licenses once a month to the Office of Vital Statistics.
** Certified copies from this office are usually available by the second month after the marriage takes place.

** The Office of Vital Statistics has five methods available for making a request for a marriage certificate
** regular mail, priority mail, telephone, internet, and walk-in customer service.
