** Croydon Register Office holds records relating to births, deaths and marriages that occurred in Croydon dating from 1837 to the present day.

** Croydon now offers an express certificate service.
** These applications must be made in person.
** The express service is not available for certificates that have been ordered on-line.
Express Service :
** Same Day service – £25
** Next day Service – £15
Fee Increase from 18 July 2016 :
** Same Day service – £35
** Next day Service – £25
** Copies of birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates can be ordered online.
** Search for “certificate” under “Registrars”.
Personal / postal application :
** A copy certificate can be obtained from the Register Office either by personal application or by post.
** The fee is £10 for each certificate.
** If paying by cheque or postal order, payment should be made payable to Croydon Council.
** If applying by post please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope and your phone number.
** If applying from outside the British Isles you will need to send an international money order drawn on a UK bank in pounds sterling.
How do we give notice?
** If you live in Croydon, you can book an appointment online via our Registrar eBookings website.
** Or if you prefer you can visit us in person, please see our contact details below.
** For all weddings (except Church of England weddings), both parties to a marriage/civil partnership must give notice in person, at the office where they reside.
** However, if one or both of you are subject to immigration control then you must give notice in a designated register office.
** Croydon is a designated office.
** Your appointment to give notice will take approximately 30 minutes.
** If you are running late, please advise the office, we will do our best to see you, however, your appointment may have to be rescheduled.
** Interpreter – If you or your partner’s first language is not English, you cannot interpret for each other.
** Please bring an interpreter to your appointment, this can be a friend.
** If the registrar cannot understand you, your appointment would have to be re-scheduled
How much does it cost?
** The fee for the notice is either £35 or £47 each. Payment by credit/debit card.
What documents will we need to provide?
** All paperwork submitted must be originals, photocopies cannot be accepted. When attending the appointment please bring the following:
British citizens, born before 1 January 1983 :
** A valid passport OR
** Birth certificate and photo ID, OR
** Naturalisation certificate and photo ID
British citizens, born after 1 January 1983 :
** A valid passport OR
** Birth certificate and photo ID, together with evidence of your parents’ nationality (valid passport or birth certificate), OR
** Naturalisation certificate and photo ID
