How to Apply Immigrant & Non-Immigrant Visa :

Immigrant Visa :
** The U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai has no Immigrant Visa unit and does not approve or issue Immigrant Visas.

** All Immigrant Visas including adoption and fiancé(e) visas for China are adjudicated by the Immigrant Visa unit at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou.

** Unfortunately, the American Citizen Services (ACS) unit in Shanghai cannot collect petitioners’ Form I-130 or filing fee.

** However, American citizens residing in Shanghai’s consular district for six months or longer can pay the filing fee and submit their petition to the USCIS field office in Beijing on the day of their appointment.

** Americans living in China but outside Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian, and Guangxi provinces should contact the USCIS field office in Beijing to schedule an appointment

Non-Immigrant Visas :
** Currently, travelers holding any type of passport issued by the People’s Republic of China require a visa for all purposes of travel to the United States.
** Non-immigrant visas are for people who wish to go to the United States on a temporary basis for purposes such as business meetings, leisure travel, or to study.

** Citizens of other countries should visit the travel.state.gov visa information section for the most current visa requirements pertaining to their country of citizenship, including information about the Visa Waiver Program.

** If you wish to apply for a non-immigrant visa, schedule an interview, track the status of your application, or have general inquiries regarding non-immigrant visas, please visit .ustraveldocs.com, or call the numbers listed on this website.

Lost and Stolen Green Cards and Reentry Permits :
** U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issues alien registration cards (I-551) to immigrants who are legally admitted for residence in the United States.

** Alien registration cards (commonly known as “green cards” or “permanent resident cards”) can only be issued or replaced in the United States and can never be obtained overseas.
** A green card is required for re-entry into the United States as a legal permanent resident.

** To apply for a boarding foil, please contact ConsularChengdu@state.gov.
** Please provide your full name, date of birth, passport information, and phone and email contact information.
** Consular staff will contact you to arrange an afternoon appointment.

For your Consulate appointment, please bring the following documents :
** Completed Form I-131A
** Proof of fee payment
** Your valid passport
** Proof of date of last departure from the United States, including copies of your passport biographic page and arrival-departure stamps
** A photo matching current visa photo standards. Please click herefor more information.
** If available, your green card (I-551) or a high-quality photocopy.
** Details on how Form-551 was lost.
