Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS) :
** We are pleased to announce the Electronic Death Registration System was implemented on April 21, 2014, with enrollment ongoing.

** Funeral Directors, Medical Certifiers (DO, MD, PA, ARNP), Medical Examiners who complete death certification registration are now required by state law to use the new system for all deaths occurring on or after April 21, 2014.
** The new system makes the filing of a death certificate more efficient and reduces errors in the process.
** Death certificates must be completed promptly and accurately because these legal documents are used for administrative and public health purposes, as well as by the family to resolve estate issues and obtain insurance benefits.
** Death records are universally recognized as the primary source of death information, but registration processes have been labor intensive.
** The new electronic system totally replaced the manual paper process, including eliminating the personal delivery of records to physicians for completion and signature, extensive and costly travel by funeral directors to file certifications and labor-intensive processing of paper records at the county recorder’s office and by the Bureau of Health Statistics.
** If you have questions please contact the IVES Help Desk at (866) 309-0831
Action Required :
** Because of security vulnerabilities with the certificate hashing encryption algorithm called SHA1, the industry is not allowing any certificate to be renewed with that algorithm, but instead they have replaced it with a new one.
** The IVES certificate is due to expire on 10/24/2014.
** In order for you to continue to use the IVES application you must run the new prerequisites (which include this new certificate algorithm).
** A required software update is available for download.
** Please click on the link to download and install the update.
** IVES will cease to work on 10/23/2014 if this update has not been installed on your computer.
** If you do not have administrative privileges on your machine, you may need to contact your system administrator in order to install the software.
** Installing the software prior to 10/23/2014 is fine, and IVES will continue to function.
