** The criteria for blue badges have not changed, only the process of assessment has.
** If you do not have automatic entitlement, you will undergo a mobility assessment.

Fraud and misuse :
** The majority of blue badge holders use their badges responsibly and in accordance with the rules laid down by the Department for Transport in The blue badge scheme: rights and responsibilities in England.
** We take blue badge fraud and misuse very seriously. The badge is for the badge holder only; it is a criminal offence to let anyone else use it when you are not in the car.
** The badge must only be used when the person it was issued to is in the vehicle either as the driver or as a passenger. It is against the law to use a badge without the disabled person being present. Do not allow other people to use your badge to do something on your behalf such as shopping or collecting something for you unless you are travelling with them.
** If you’re in any doubt about when and how to use your blue badge, call us on 020 8356 6262.
How we deal with fraud and misuse :
** A dedicated fraud team investigates and prosecutes blue badge misuse and fraud.
** If someone is found guilty of misusing a blue badge they can be fined up to £1,000.
How do I report misuse of a Blue Badge :
** If you suspect that a badge is either fraudulent or being mis-used, please call 0208 356 8866 or email bluebadgefraudteam AT hackney.gov.uk.
** All calls are confidential.
What should I do if my Blue Badge is stolen :
** If your Blue Badge is stolen, you should report the theft to the police immediately, then contact us on 020 8356 6262.
** You should quote the crime reference number or crime report when you apply for a replacement.
I have a blue badge. Am I exempt from paying for my parking permit which is due on 9 June? If so how do I go about it.
