Applying For A Railcard Subsidy :
** This council offers a subsidised railcard as an alternative to a bus pass to the over 65s and disabled people.

** These railcards give holders a third off most standard and first-class rail fares across Great Britain for a whole year.
Senior railcards for people over 65 years old :
** Please use our application form to apply for a railcard or to renew your existing one.
** You can also use it to apply for a concessionary bus pass once your current rail concession has expired.
** Please note that you can not hold a bus pass and a subsidised railcard at the same time.
Proofs required :
You must bring with you one proof from each of the categories below :
Proof of current address such as :
** Driving licence
** Bank / Building Society Passbook or Statement
** Benefit book
** Council tax bill
** Court order
** Inland Revenue tax notification
** Mortgage statement
** NHS medical card
** Rent payment book
** Repeat prescription
** Tenancy agreement
** Television licence
** Utility bill (gas, electricity, telephone or water, less than 2 months old)
Proof of identity such as :
** Passport
** Driving licence
** Bank card
** Credit card
** Store card
** HM Forces identity card
** Concessionary fares pass
Proof of age such as
** Passport
** Driving licence
** Birth certificate
** National Blood Transfusion Service Card
** NHS medical card
** Old age pension book
** Optical or medical prescription
Applying for a disabled person’s railcard :
** Please apply to National Rail for your first Disabled Persons Railcard.
** There is no subsidy on your first railcard.
** Please contact us on 01344 351200 before you renew your Disabled Person’s Railcard for the first time and we will explain how we can issue a voucher you can send to the office in Scotland for a subsidised Disabled Person’s Railcard.
** You can use our application form to renew your Disabled Person’s Railcard.
** You can also use it to apply for a concessionary bus pass once your current rail concession has expired.
** Please note that you can not hold a bus pass and a subsidised railcard at the same time.
** Please bring the completed form to our council office in Time Square.
Renewal of subsidised railcards :
** Please ensure you know when your railcard expires.
** You can apply for a renewal of the subsidy up to a month before the expiry date.
** Please download the application form above and bring the completed form together with payment to the council offices at Time Square.
